    Since the term is obviously relative, it reflects upon the person stating it in most cases.
    This is why I frown upon the use of "Conservative" & "Liberal" as a political label. It ranks right up there with "too small" and "too big" when describing something.

    The spiffy thing about netflix streaming is that nearly everything you buy for the entertainment center has the ability to play that it seems.
    PS3, Wii, Bluray players, AppleTV, some televisions.. almost to the point of getting a complimentary Netflix streaming client in new toasters, nowadays.

    The fact that it repeatedly happens in no way makes it an acceptable practice.
    Complacency is losing, in this case. This is actually borderline data theft. Not borderline, it IS.

    I know myself and millions of others that type their bank info into their computer. That goes into the wrong hands, and it's bad.

    Acting like it's an accepted practice means you've accepted it as normal appropriate business acumen.

    Misc computer parts come from China.
    Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, and various other countries are where most physical computer parts are manufactured.
    Occasionally you might hit a USA part.

    I mean, Intel processors are manufactured in Singapore & Malaysia...

    Dell == computer manufacturing company
    AMD == Chip (Microprocessor + GPU) processing company

    Comparing the two in the aspect of Linux support is comparing apples to oranges. It's a whole completely new arena.

    Any issues between Dell and Linux is anything else but the CPU.

    We use SSH keys to log in as root directly so we can run commands and scripts from a central server over hundreds of servers without having to log into them. Sudo is like training wheels.

    Having any ability to log into a remote machine with root is a security issue. sudo says which user can do what, and which user can sudo to root as well. Sudo is by far not like training wheels, it's another layer of security. Training wheels are designed to help you, not provide a layer of system security. Unless that's what you consider training wheels...

    2: We use vi, not emacs, and definitely not pico or nano
    No we don't. We use 'joe' because we learned how to code C on Borland Turbo C and we like our Wordstar command keys. I never understood the use of a separate view/edit mode either anyway

    Some of us have progressed beyond the early to mid-90s on MS-DOS. Besides, vi is most commonly used because it's like 'sh'... it's just there and a de-facto standard. It's also pretty powerful, you should try it again, someday. Unless you're "that guy".

    I wouldn't say allergic, I'd say wanting another reason than "we got a problem.".
    Most problems can be fixed, instead of flushing the buffers. Otherwise, it's an issue that needs to be escalated up to the vendors.

    On any unix platform, you don't need to reboot after fixing a problem like that.
    It's a problem with an application utilizing disk space. There's no memory issues. Why would you need to reboot?
    What does retardation have to do with this?

    The simplest solutions are often the cleverest, they are also usually wrong.
    It's simpler to buy a new pack of spark plugs every 1000 miles than to find the reason why the tip is melting...

    Besides, in your situation you found the one variable that changed. Without that one variable, you did not have the problem previously.
