I guess it depends on your aim.
If emulating Windows with a Linux platform is the key, but accidentally falling into OS/X territory, then Ubuntu is where ya go.
If you're looking for something remotely server based, you choose anything but.
I don't care if they say they have a server platform, it's about like Windows saying they have a server. Anything with a primary gearing of being simple to use is by very definition the antithesis of a server since it means a billion layers.

Funny since my Acer Aspire One is relatively commonly used by a lot of people who own the same thing, and it's not bigger, more expensive, nor does it have more gadgets.
It comes standard with 1gb ram, 160 gb harddrive (since SD is ridiculously slow and holds less data), Atom N470 1.6 Ghz processor, and I bought it for $249. Of course it was my choice to upgrade the battery since it only handed 2-3 hours of worktime, so I plugged an additional $60 into it for a 10-12 hour battery.

Fits the bill, I'd say. Of course, there's always the cyclical battle that happens once you actually concrete it's usefulness... how no real user would deal with a 10 inch monitor, or a keyboard so small, etc etc. Silly arguments when the only true choice is personal. I chose mine because I didn't have much cash at the time, and it fit my portability needs, also.

yes, it's easy... just find what speed/variety of ram goes in, find where your ram goes, and plug it in.
I've done it with an Asus EEE pc, and an Acer Aspire One.
Both have the ram available in a door on the bottom of the motherboard, available from the outside of the system.

UNIX is a copyright, and Linux just follows the guidelines that UNIX originally had. Well, for the most part ;)
It could be ambiguously argued in court, and the actual "meaning" of the UNIX copyright being described so nebulous in court that even Windows could be seen as a violator of UNIX copyrights... (that's a far stretch but hey... it's POSIX compliant somewhere in there haha)

Pretty much by black-and-white standards, if it contains UNIX anywhere in it's name or has the code of UNIX or UNIX-named OS's within it, then it would be in violation.
That would require an intense scan by court-appointed (or "experts") people to see if that is true.
Since most of the code has gone through the wringer quite a few times since the current SCO even thought about the word UNIX, I seriously doubt any SunOS/Solaris, BSD, SCO, AIX, etc, code was left unsterilized.

Don't label anyone "greens" and you'll start to understand how the world really is. Pigeon-holing people leads to myopic thinking, which we see here.

For one, there's been massive debates between individuals who were/are pro-earth on whether nuclear would be a viable energy solution cleanly, with very little human impact. We've come far in the storage/disposal of decayed fission material, but we're still pretty dark-aged about it. If you look at the entire picture, you'd realize there's no black and white.

For two, solar is used... a lot. It's upsurge is a pro, and will continue to rise quietly because it's "in the background" so to speak. Let's not get silly and start bringing scenarios that are idiotic into the picture, especially since tortoises don't live in the deserts. APS in arizona, and many many other companies now offer solar power alternatives. Wind power is a huge piece of california, and is upsurging throughout the united states in areas that are prone to wind.

For three, with such a selfish attitude of me me me, you'll never see the whole picture on this one. Hydroelectric dams do make alot of electricity, however they also hold back many breeding patterns of fish and waterlife, along with destroying the ecosystem within by changing the temperatures. To top it off, the areas below the dam are basically parched in comparison to previous which drastically changes the area... a bit of an issue when your depriving water to another culture/community/country.

For four... what the hell are you talking about?

For five... well it looks like you've got things right here... except that the only thing coming out of a cooling tower of a nuclear planet is heat.

We and animals that respirate are filters... and that's just the simplest way to think of it since there's far more than respiration that is hit by all of it.
