Buttons are intuitive. No they are not. They are a well-known mechanism that everyone has been exposed to for most of their lives, but that is not the same thing: Intuition (knowledge) - understanding without apparent effort, quick and ready insight seemingly independent of previous experiences or empirical knowledge.
Evil is rarely a useful adjective. I think they believe in a certain ideology and believe that the ends justify the means. Their particular priorities do not line up with yours (or mine), but to describe them as evil is probably not productive. It's their word, they use it to describe entire nations. It might not be productive, but it's not like we can avoid it when they are the subject of the discussion. Might as well use it ourselves.
had I posted a similar comment, I would have been deluged with AC posts filled with rants of "conspiracy theory", demanding evidence, and with no shortage of personal attacks against me. There is a dedicated group of internet trolls who target me, specifically, to the exclusion of all other users who express the same or similar ideas. Hey, I had/have a stalker, I know the pattern : )
Don't worry, it's probably just the one loser with nothing better to do than to feed your paranoia. I suggest not letting ACs stop you from posting freely. Fight the good fight, don't let the trolls stop ya.
The country is being run by idiots who think ideology trumps reality and thus reality can be ignored. I do not believe for a single instant that Cheney, Rumsfeld and Rice are idiots (I'm not sure about the frontman though). I believe they are crimina... er... 'perfectly legal' masterminds, coldly going about their well thought out plan, and letting nothing stop them.
They only seem like idiots if you actually believe their hearts are in the right place. They are acting perfectly rationally, and with great cunning, when you take into account that they are, well, I'd call them evil. That is what I call people who are willing to kill for money, again and again.
They knew many people would die in Iraq, they knew they were lying about their motivations for going to war, they knew they had to act fast while the population was scared enough to believe them, and they knew they could get away with it. A fall guy gets sentenced here and there, sure, but you don't win a chess match of this magnitude without loosing a rook or two.
Isn't it a little premature for Microsoft to be working on the next Windows release? It's not premature to be generating hype and interest, remember, Gabo is coming!
I'm afraid we'll have these "articles" (and I say that word with the highest level of irony and contempt) everyday (or every other day) from now until 6 months after the release of the next MS OS, at which point their generously budgeted marketing department will spam us with "news" about their next product.
I don't know this is a good idea. Right now flights between places like LA and OZ & NZ, there is not much to do except to sleep Or read or draw or play cards or chat or etc.
Some of us can't sleep in planes or trains, you know.
But in using the word "consuming" you pointed your finger right at the flaw of his arguments Thanks for noticing. I'll be here all week : ) But seriously, it's a clear case of "old man doesn't like new fangled contraptions, film at 11"
Ebert: If you can go through "every emotional journey available," doesn't that devalue each and every one of them? Art seeks to lead you to an inevitable conclusion, not a smorgasbord of choices. If next time, I have Romeo and Juliet go through the story naked and standing on their hands, would that be way cool, or what? Dear Mr. Ebert, The world has passed you by, say hello to the old men who were decrying the depravity of the waltz on your way to the special hell reserved for snobs and creationists.
He might not call it high art, but that's because high art is by definition not consumed by the masses, its appreciation is an affectation of the higher classes.
If you believe shit pollutes the water, you should stop shitting immediately, because every time you shit you are polluting the water. I have been on the guided tour of the city's sewer treatment plant, I've looked down the 13 stories deep shit silos. My shit may stink but it's intercepted and biodegraded before it gets out of the sewers.
running the browser on a root enabled account... Alla M$ Windows style.... (Excluding version 7 of course) Well, on Windows 7, you have to run root to play Duke Nukem Forever, so everybody does it.
I can go either way, actually Stress in industrialized nations causes weight gain because of the availability of high-calorie snacks that people eat to relieve the stress. Stress in more natural environments causes weight loss because it shuts down your digestive track and reduces your ability to acquire food.
I lose weight when I'm really stressed, as I tend to not eat much junk food (strict vegetarian, not a candy freak, cook most of my meals from scratch, etc.) I do know other people that head right to the store for junk food when that stress hits, though. Exactly, if you have to cook your food from scratch, you're going to loose weight when you're stressed out, but if you stop at the drive through for a quarter pound of salty fat with a super sized side of salty fat and big bucket of sugared water, then your circumference is going to expand.
It's not the stress that make people gain weight, it's how they choose to deal with it.
I would disagree, as long as the law is legitimate. If you think that passing laws the way congress does lends them legitimacy, because it allows representation, then it is at least unlikely to be immoral to simply use the rights you're granted under those laws in the way they were intended to be used.
If you think that the system of government, or of legislation, is not legitimate in that sense, then I would agree with you. I do not believe in the legitimacy of the system, it has been corrupted and the masses are too sheepish to rise up, as is their patriotic duty.
Off the top of my head, the last time a federally-ordered scientific study was done on the reasons for keeping Cannabis in the same legal bracket as heroin, the recommendation was, as it has systematically been for every study in every country for about 40 years, to decriminalize the substance. However the feds said that since tobacco smoke causes cancer, eating pot should remain illegal.
The public domain and intellectual property saga is equally perverted, but causes less people to be jailed.
Speaking of worthless comments, who the hell cares if you read sigs or not?
Apparently you do, since you are asking people to read your sig.
I don't care if he reads it or not. If he's ignoring sigs, he can just ignore the comment, and I can just ignore him. Instead he made my idiot list by making a worthless comment lamenting the possibility that my comment, had he actually read it all, could have been worthless.
Stress causes weight gain, not loss. Also, I've just discovered that it is nigh impossible to get valid information on stress and weight through google, these keywords only crop up page after page of sites set up by people wanting to prey on the obese.
I'm sure it's glorious, interesting, insightful and apropos but many people have sigs turned off. Sure, they could turn them on to see if your comment had any worth to it, but it probably doesn't so they probably won't. I know I won't.

Alexa drives me nuts. It uses a broken methodology to measure the internet and is, for reasons unclear to anyone, regarded as somehow definitive simply because it allows you to compare two sites with a single simple number. Its sampling methodology is flawed and the numbers it produces are meaningless. Just read my.sig
"A couple of law professors are not representatives of the school."
No, but one of those professors at Harvard is former Governor of Massachussetts William Weld(R). Can you say "we better not piss off the politicians and people with strong connections"? Can we hope they'll piss off another former governor? I'd love to see the footage of a showdown between the head of the RIAA and that guy:-p
AFAIK, legally, corporations have all the rights that a person does. They are essentially a "person". You're a person too, try going to the government and demanding they do anything and see where you get. We need to do this scientifically: I'll try it, and then we'll get someone with as much money as these corporations to try it, and compare results.
Let's think about this logically. RIAA has a right to sue anyone they think has committed copyright infringement against one of their members. This is because there is a _law_ that was passed by _congress_ supported by the _constitution_ that gives them this right. Unless you completely reject our system of government, you can't argue that a company is evil for suing someone who violates their rights in this manner. illegal != evil; legal != !evil;
Logically, just because the law allows you to legally do something evil doesn't make you immune from being called evil when you choose to act on it.
LOL... I thought the same thing. Nintendo made sure to get it's classics out right away. Now that they have a solid library of base games they're branching out and trying new things. There are even some new Mario games on the way. I think that the author kind of missed the point, but it's interesting to think about the new directions that nintendo is opening up. Exactly: We aren't losing Mario, we're gaining new game mechanics! Win/win.

Why there is neither Mario nor Zelda to play on the Wii then, huh?
