Television is not emasculated to suit the whims of anyone.
The first season of Sailor Moon had a bunch of evil henchmen who all dress the same. In the original, one of them is a very effeminate man dating of of the other bad guys.
For the U.S. dub, that man was turned into a woman: Literally emasculated.
It's just a fifth generation iPod with video. Video is not its primary function, if it was, then it'd be an iPod video. God damnit, people need to stop spreading misinformation on things.
No no no, see, the new iPods are so pretty, they don't even do anything anymore! You just look at them: Video iPod!;- )
has anyone stopped and thought about how big america is? It's going to take awhile to replace all the old infrastructure in america... that's why many smaller countries have already have newer systems in place.
Canada is bigger than the United States of America AND is in America, you know, just FYI.
Glorifying hatered on a t-shirt is counterproductive, and reflects VERY poorly on the reasonable cause the shirt represents.
Hatred is a human emotion. So unless you bleed green and you have pointy ears, chances are you had a taste of it.
The shirt is an expression of how the wearer feels about a public person, the wearer could be a hypocrite and pretend he meerly dislikes, or disagrees with Thompson, but if we do hate him for consistently attacking our character based solely on our preferred passtime, and his attempt to ban our passtime, then the shirt is simply expressing our feelings in a perfectly reasonable way.
I hate that fucker Jack Thompson. There, I said it.
What would be more fair and reasonable is if ABC would license content for sale by the local affiliates.
So, instead of using iTunes, which works, we'd have to go to the individual, nightmarish affiliate websites and wade through their half-assed implementation?
Can you say "streaming Real media"? I ca...BUFFERING...n! And I'd NEVER pay for that. But if I have a date when Lost airs, I'd be happy to know that I can simply download it from Apple the next day, hassle-free.
He's doing more harm than that - Jack Thompson has (either as the defense attorey himself, or as a consultant, don't recall) attempted to use the "video games made me do it" defense in *criminal* cases. I don't actually think this is about money to him - I think the man is outright clinically obsessed.
Well, it is still about money: He's using his FUD as a chewbacca-defense for his client, whom I'm certain he wasn't defending pro-bono.
All he is trying to do is get publishers to show some kind of accountability.
No. Not even close.
All he's trying to do is to make money from frivolous lawsuits. He's pushing his propaganda in order to convince the jurors to grant him the monetary damages he seeks from game publishers for the unrellated actions of murderers who happen to be their client.
He pretends to be all about protecting the children (won't somebody PLEASE think of the children!?), but he is in fact all about using tragedies to leech money off of a profitable industry.
can someone describe for me the "narrative context" in Postal 2 which justified such actions?
I haven't played the game, so I might be missing something, but as far as I know, the context is explained by the following wikipedia article:
Going postal is an American English slang term, used as a verb meaning to commit murder, mass murder or a killing spree in the workplace, generally by a current or former employee. The term derives from a series of incidents from 1986 onwards in which United States Postal Service (USPS) workers shot and killed managers, fellow workers, and members of the police or general public.
Orson Scott Card is a great writer, but he's also an insane rightwing religious fanatic.
I think he's neither. He's a writer who's done some good work, and he's a right-wing believer, but I don't think he's great, nor is he a fanatic as far as I've seen.
The last I read of his was the "Worthing Saga", which featured a race of ubermen recognised by their blue eyes... yeah, er, that's nice Orson, reeeeal nice.
Yes, because Bush personally could have done a whole lot, such as
Such as giving the head of FEMA job to a qualified person instead of treating it as gift to hand over to his incompetant buddy.
But no, let's not blame the result of nepotism and incompetance on the guilty... obviously, no one could have anticipated that the levees would break, right? So it would have been the same mess no matter who had been in charge?
Man, seriously, when someone's incompetance costs people their lives, it MIGHT be time to stop thinking that it's OK to be leave the incompetant in charge. Just a thought.
For example, you'd expect to see animals with 1 arm, 2 arms, 3 arms, 10 arms, no arms, half an arm, round arms, and so on for every part of the body while evolution is fine tuning this stuff. As far as I know, this isn't the case.
Now your getting stupid. Evolution doesn't work the way you think. I suggest actualyl learning about it.
Also, there are many very old history books in various libraries around the world that have detailed records of dragons and their encounters with people. Such as that of English King Morvidus. Surprisingly, many of these descriptions of dragons fit with how modern scientists would describe dinosaurs, even Tyrannosaurus.
Smaller than a horse, four-legged, and with reversed bat-like wings? What were you smoking when you watched Jurassik Park? : )
And we'll be driving our flying cars all the while.
suppressing our people
Stop doing business with them, then talk about how evil they are.
How is this lawsuit different than all the others?
He's going to jail for sharing crap no one in their right mind would want to buy anyway?
It's amazing to me that real piracy, where huge profits are made, is ignored while file sharing between friends is hammered.
They relate more to the capitalist pirates than to the hippie sharers. THESE guys must be stopped!
kinda sounds like someone with, umm, an agenda.
Agendas are not inherently bad, ya know.
His is an agenda of freedom, the agendas he decries are those of user-locking.
Do Arab countries have...

*sings* Blame Canada...Blame Canada
With all their beady lil' eyes,
And flapping heads so full of lies!
Blame Canada!
They're not even a real country, anyway!

Does the introduction of blogsearch.google.com mean that content on whatever Google deems a blog is being segregated from the rest of the Internet?
God DAMN I hope so!

He spews bullshit for profit.
Anyone care to explain how that was, in any way, flamebait?
Just summarizing the general theory that many people are throwing out there as justification for censorship.

And they don't go to extreme lenghts to try to convert you. Once it's clear that you're not interested they leave you alone.
That's probably because they'll just convert you post-mortem.
But they sure are a lot nicer than Jehova's Witnesses.
