    Maybe instead they could simply get precidence (sp?) over non-subscribed ones. Only problem is that someone could a troll could pay to get his 'story' to the editors.

    Just think, how many good stories are overwhelmed by the huge noise ratio of fake stories? Maybe a subscriber's stories won't get trashed unless they get blocked by all of the filters or something? This could maybe up the quality of Slashdot a bit by allowing more stories that are usually lost.

    but its demise forces developers to make their own Linux binaries if Linux binaries are to exist. This would (hopefully) make more developers port the code themselves, and keep the Linux gaming industry alive (unless another company like Loki starts up, in fact this may be better in the short run as then all of the porting knowledge would be concentrated in this company and allow them to make better ports)

    my bad: i screwed up the /I tag It is inconsequential that hundreds of thousands of other sites seem to run SQL Server 6.5, 7.0, and 2000 just fine.
    Hundreds of thousands of sites don't keep track of bomb-grade materials, do they? No one cares if the "Pampered Pet Database" loses information.
