The only problem being is that it is in AMerican dollars and at the triple the cost. Not only that, canadians would be require to travel to some far god forsaken land in america!
There should definitely be some legitimate control of the patents. WIth all those gene patents springing up in countless numbers, soon one would have to pay a fortune to gain access to even basic examinations.
I personally object most of the gene related patterns. They are just a way to reap outworldish gains at the expense of people for whom this is a life/death debate. *period*
Ugghhh, FUCK YOU Anonymous Coward! I'm a proud Canadian, and I'm proud of my government's actions. You may show your points up your ass if you want to, but our women deserve being treated in Canada for a fair amount of $$ and not some bloated figures.
Heh... I do 18 hours at times, but not aways though;-). I agree it would be a major killer if I managed 18 hours more often lol.
My full time job involves a lot of Java development. But when I come home I try to do some Perl or C++. Being involved in the Perl community, I try to keep up certain projects of mine not to lag behind.
Could this help me (one day, maybe?) stay away for much longer each day? Presently, I max out at 18 hours a day without sleep. This much time is enough to churn out only so much of code.. but think of the implications if I and numerous others who find joy in churning out free code could code for a bit longer within a span of 24 hours?
And all this with little side-effect to other bodily functions...;-)
Hey timothy, could you please elaborate on your obviously erraneous placement of the article in the YRO category?
100% of the replies so far seem to agree with that your selection is totally out of place. The common question is "since when industrial espionage became one of our 'online' rights?"
I'd urge to to reply and explain yourself, in case we missed any point you tried to make here (somewhat unlikely).
Absolutely correct.. To me this appears to be just another case of lame thievery. The guy didn't even have to think much to yank propriatory information that he obviously wasn't entitled to.
Lynch him, jail him, fine him, do whatever but for Christ's sake don't put it in the "Your Rights Online" category!!!!!
They STILL should do BASIC tests before yelping out anything deemed of great significance to the rest of the scientific community. Doing otherwise surves the only purpose of humiliating their own sorry selves.
I had the same feeling by the time I reached the end of the article.
How sure are they that the very bacteria that they've discovered at that height doesn't come from the Earth? 41km doesn't seem too far off into the space for me...
But Google should be free to filter out crap that I don't want to see anyways! If Google noticed that PageKing artificially hiked page ranks, it should come as a surprise that Google would act on it.
In case of Microsoft's OS, I pay for it with my own money and therefore I'm entitled to use the system in a way I see fit and not have Microsoft do whatever it wants. Certainly Microsoft shouldn't step outside of the OS boundaries. For example, OS shouldn't include pre-installed software products which are in direct competition with other products out there. Remember that unlike Google's search engine, OS and software that runs on it aught to be two distinctive entities. I know this is not the case with Microsoft as even their IE is so closely tied to the OS. However, THIS IS IN NO WAY SIMILAR TO GOOGLE VS SEARCHKING.com argument!!
Google and SerachKing are just different kind of search tools. Which is better is for you to judge. If Google does it's search in one particular way, how can u go about sueing them? Are the obligated to do search in one definite way or what? Afterall if Google didn't search right, it would have never ascended to the glorious first place amongst sheer number of other (fraknly lousy) search engines.
can you please give me the name of that company and I'll make sure I never come to work for it!
This is simply lame.
At the company I'm working for, we don't have strict rules.. it's almost a given that you won't play games/surf the web endlessly if it hurts ongoing projects etc. Frankly, I'm loaded with so much work that I can hardly find enough time to finish my lunch off! The good thing, however, is that I don't hear my boss or someone else at the company say "You'll be fired if we find you surfing the web for at least 15 minutes" OR "You are strictly prohibited to surf for more than 15 minuts, play _any_ kind of games, etc.. " you know what I'd do then? I'd simply walk away. I'm absolutely positive in my skills and am confident that I wouldn't waste much time finding another job.
If you want your employees treat the company with respect, treat your employees like you'd treat any other responsible adult. *period*
well, again, should we recall numerous con artists who trespassed the face of the earth some 100 or even thousand years ago? Remember those numerous conspirators of all evil who claimed to have found a way to design the ultimate perpetual engine? I guess you could find tons of examples and actual historical recordings of that using www.google.com.
What I'm really leading up to is that in this day and age of Internet 'boom', we should expect exactly these con artists that we have just read about. I have an absolute faith in that this Adam guy is no genius... just another great inventor of lies... and what a good way to generate big $$ from investors fallen prey to an ingenius scam eh?
I've got no problems with my ADSL. Something out of normal did occur to me a few times for the past 2 to 3 years that i'm with my current ADSL provider but nothing serious. For the most part my ADSL works just perfect.
I have a friend who's got Cable and I always keep getting bad news from him:(.... what a pittiful dude hehe.... For one, I wouldn't go for Cable even with such bs deals like 3 months free access..
who cares if u crap out so much?....
I guess you'd have to be better than just another 'Anonymous Coward' to post comments that carry no sense in them whatsoever. I've made a legit post, and if some Nut-Freaks don't appreciate they are not asked for their 2 cents.
Isn't that what the '.net' thing is meant for? I find this entire 'product' pretty alarming. Quite frankly, I'd hate it knowing that Microsoft manages my data... with so many security holes and such it is no brainer that the stuff may get easily lost. Anyhow, those holes is a minor factor however... The greatest concern is that Microsoft is really trying to legalize 'tapping' into other peoples' underware... Imagine the immense powers that Microsoft will enjoy being in
the capacity of the world data keeper?
This would allow Microsoft to fully track every single comp. user in ways unimeginable before (however, I have strong doubts as to whether Microsoft is not doing the same thing at the present times... ). With this 'innovative' (quote from Microsoft), Billy will have a better understanding of what a particular user is (as a person or individual...) they their closest relatives! Starting from simple things like keeping a list of software products used by an individual (and thus have nice means of prosecuting illegal copies of protected software...) to credit card numbers, contacts (phone numbers, names etc), personal preferences (sexual orientation -- by analysing web usage -- for example)... clearly the '.net' product will turnout to be the ultimate Big Brother, much greater then the highly acclaimed Carnivore.
Poor and damned are the ones who commit their souls to Billy. Speaking of Anti-Christ, I think that Microsoft fits the criterium nicely.
I say, "Bring HALT to this Microsoft BEAST..."...
Microsoft should be broken up into pieces for good, otherwise all of us are to suffer.
No this is not gonna work! I've been to a.com world and have gone through nearly same experience. Wazup with that Google thing? Well yeah that's the place I go to get some search done on the web...... and uhhhhh...... then some more search the next day... then again and so on...
From all that I do with Google I can't see any reason a company like that could make 50 Million in pure profits. I mean, 1 Million is alright... pretty believable.. not 50!
Anyhow, here's my 'evil' predictions... as soon as Google goes IPO, it is going to be come a relick of www.fuckedcompany.com. Why? Well, how many search portals are there already? like 100? maybe even 1000.. i bet. So who the hell would need another 'corporate' search engine? with all the redundant products such as: "email, personalizatin, blah blah blah, saved searches, blah blah......." when there are already tons of other portals that are readily offering all that stuff.
Besides, the only reason I visit www.google.com is due to the fact that it's rather simple, devoid of various redundant products and is there to do the only thing for me "search"!
However, I wish the the founders luck and hope the get a chance to cash in on their work before it's too late and the company starts to spiral in a downward path:(.
cheers,

If you read my earlier post, I'm currently in the process of setting up a site for displaying various real estate properties for sale/rent. My actual business name is Evris Ventures. And the Web is really just an extension or means to existing marketing. My business is far from beina true '.com'.
Basically, the way my site works (or will work in a few months down the road, hopefully) is it allows people who have access to the Internet to purchase some 'ad' space for their real estate propertie(s). Unlike conventional news-print and magazines, ads (listings) on my site may have up to five pages of information. There's a convenient tool to create a new listing. The cost for a listing is directly proportional to its size, however, even with that it is much cheaper than buying an 11-word ad in a local news paper (i've done it a couple times and know:).
For e.g., an average listing may cost my client somewhere from $10-40 a months. $35/months may give you up to 5 pages of information on your advertised property. There's a page for main info, details (all data is indexed), easy maps, and photos (about 5 colored ones for the price)!
Each listing (once created) is identified in my database with a unique number. For added effectiveness, this number may be featured in conventional news print in form of brief ads.
In the end, the site is a place for show-casing advertised real estate property in full detail. So, there's the value...
Hi folks,
I'm working on a site now that will be listing real estate properties for sale or rent. It has some search in there already... however, this search is done on internal listings only.
Please go check out the site, www.c4home.com
It's only partially complete... the actual services will be offered to clients in a month's time or so. There still needs to be a convenient online payment mechanism worked out.
Cheers,
site owner.

;)
FINALLY I CAN NOW DISH MS OFFICE FOR GOOD! Jess I hate Office and that little silly dude in the corner!
It would be great to just use 1 (ONE!!!) application for all that work and I don't have to go as far as install 4/5 apps to do that stuff. Awesome
