We've sort missed ideas so let me clarify: One of the main points of society is that if you want to enjoy the better aspects of it you must contribute to it. I pay my taxes (which are slightly higher than taxes in the US) and in turn enjoy the positive aspects of the society I live in. You could probably bury Africa a meter deep in greenbacks and not significantly change to core problems that they experience because lack of money is not the root of their problems. So whether or not I give money to unwashed masses isn't really the issue. I guess, at this point, I should come out and say that I don't believe that donating money is the right thing to do so I only donate time to my charity of choice.
Actually I did look up the definition of fascism and found that it defined current america. I looked into the peace corp years ago and found that they weren't really helping and while I am anglo I am not a christian so the whole missionary thing isn't really appealing.
Well, I suppose this is the article where all the hyper-nationalistic americans fascists come out of the closet. I can't say I'm really surprised given then state and mood of america these days but it is disappointing. When I first moved to the US it was a great place but over the years it has really changed and now it seems that the only difference between al-Qaida and the americans is that the americans speak English.
I'm glad I moved and if you are not a anglo christian reconstructionist you should move too.
The fact is that all of humanity needs to civilize the world and this will not be accomplished free of charge. I live in comfortable neighborhood (outside of the US) and I pay to keep it that way... because I want to live in a nice place. If globalization has taught anything it is that all of humanity is limited by the poverty and suffering of the masses...It is a sort of least common denominator. Honestly I'd like to live in a world without both terrorism and fascism. Maybe the americans can't see it but the rest of the world can, america is becoming exactly what they fight against.
MAybe it's just me... I use the same keyboard layout for general use, but I find the old QWERTY US layout better than any German layout for coding (in C).
I find it interesting that parts of the Kernel were written in Embedded C++. I haven't had the opportunity to use this although I'd love too. Anyone have an experience with EC++ they'd like to share?
I knew a guy that worked at "ACE Hardware" back in the late '80s. They had some sort of dial-up text based ordering system that wasn't very secure. He wound up using it to order a tractor trailer load of pink flamingos using the pass-code from guy who was irritating him.
Well... It's like I think he's super great... but you are pretty much guaranteed to get a good read with his works, rather than the crap shoot you get with other authors.
Actually if anyone would stop to think about this it presents a series of fairly interesting problems. One: you should be able to recover all of the data that exists on a given server if it disappears. Two: you should assume that the communications between servers is suspect or intermittent. Three: No server should retain logs pertinent to its physical location (i.e. log-file swapping).
Sounds like a combination of a distributed file system and WASTE to me...
I used to live in Cobb county and a few years ago I picked up my family and moved back to Europe. Here in Austria we do have a lower crime rate but there's more to it than just that. I have the impression that the fear of being the victim of crime is much higher in US than the actual crime rate warrants and is much, much higher than where I live now. I also think that this irrational fear enables law makers to enact poorly thought out laws which are seldom, if ever, revisited. This seems like a gradual process which is causing America to change from the place in the world everyone wants to live in to a totalitarian police state.
This Sex offenders map is really reminiscent to the "wanted" website the anti-abortion advocates cooked up featuring doctors who were known to perform abortions. The only thing it lacks is the explicit intent to incite violence (which is NOT what I'm saying you are doing and perhaps is the line of going to far). Still there's a big difference between a resource that can be used by employers to check up on candidates for postitions interacting with children or perhaps highly crime fearful people to check out general neighborhoods and a website which would allow me, after I've downed a few six packs, to select the neighborhoods, streets, and house numbers for my evening's vandalism.
Ask ThePirateBay!!
I salute you! You speak like a true fascist!
My Country of origin is U.S.A

Still looks quite nice though.
I'm stunned you thought this would resonate here on /.
I hear you but I'm still interested in their GCC involvement
Obviously expecting there main competitor to build their main complier is a flawed concept...
TransMeta!? I'm still pissed about Alpha!
Oh... You will probably find a wiki sort of thing these easiest to deal with (sort of a DB front end for dummies)
Why... So they can make it part of the default, windows *can't* run without it, install?

Oh... and your job is one of the best websites in Austria!

I suggest you go to Skype's home page a read up on what skype does, then you will not be so confused. It's great, It works, and It's worth the 7 Euro.
You should submit it to technocrat. Let me know if you don't want to... I will

6... great a blue screen of 'identity'... I can hardly wait
The problem is that the US has become seriously fucked up since Ford was around.
