I'm not sure where EZ Pass is located at, but where ever it is seems to be having major issues. I have I-PASS (illinois) and i have never had a false reading stating i haven't paid the toll. The suggested speed limit is 30 mph and there are many who coast on through at 60+. I myself have done this numerous times and have still not gotten a fine for not paying. Perhaps you should actuall have the EZ-Pass unit checked out for defects or a new battery. If that is not the case, make sure the booth you are going through actually has EZ-Pass. That is not an issue here as all booths are equipped with I-Pass.
To all you paranoid big brother types... Do you really want to give the government that much credit? Yes, its possible... but how likely is it really that they would get that co-ordinated over night and elimintate the red-tape that would hamper any thing remotely usefull to them? Honestly, they can't even spell my name right on the voter registration cards even though they have my SSN. Think about it... I just don't see the Govt getting that organized anytime soon.
Please, eveyone realize the only thing that has been done is the federal rules have been removed. It is now up to the states how to handle things. If you are displeased with how things are going, get someone in your state's offices to get things fixed. I myself am young and am not old enough to remember when att and the origonal papa bell was broken up, however, my parents say the service was better for cheaper... as in it was better quality for the money they spent. Basically, line shareing is crap in my opinion. Last mile monoply is a stupid catch phrase. I really don't see all of you fighting the power companies to let other people use their lines. I don't see anyone complaining about the gas companies. If some other company wants to offer service, fine... lay your own lines and quit your bitching.
Perhaps you can clarify the differences between the two (TCPA & Palladium). After reading up on both of them, i still find that they seem to be pretty much the same, just marketed differently.
well, for starters S-Video isn't going to allow you to send a signal past 800x600. Switch it to component video out if you want to actually use your HD options.
First, don't bash anything untill you read about it and understand it.
Second, and yes, this is pricey, but if your looking for a media PC, this will do the trick, and you shouldn't have trouble hooking up your ipod or any other media device to it.
Third, You didn't mention it but others did, this is extremely hardware limited, ATI can't even get on because their cards don't do all the encoding in hardware. You also must have a remote so the lazy people can operate this from their couch.
Finally, I know anytime MS is mentioned, it will get torn apart. And i know this has DRM in it, but it will only be months before that is broken. In all honesty, XP is alot better than their previous efforts, RIAA and MPAA ass kissing aside. So lets drop the nothing from MS will ever be good enough, because we all know that the majority of people that use Slashdot are browsing from IE.
I'm sorry to say that most merchants do keep records of individuals and what they purchased and how they purchased it. The only way around this is to pay with cash. I worked for Marshall Fields and if you lost your reciept and didn't pay with cash, all i needed was a little personal info and i could look up your purchases for the past 3 months. If it was longer than that, a little call to retailers national bank allowed a much longer history to be uncoverd. They deemed this as the personalization of shopping.
Its a typical practice and i'm sure other's are doing it, have been doing it, and will continue to do it.
This is going to be hard to achieve. The only way people will stop buying their products is if other viable alternatives are offered. I don't mean availible, I mean offered. When was the last time you walked into best buy or circut city and saw a machine with a competative OS ready to go. It's hard enough to find store's other than the Apple Store and CompUSA that carry apples now. There needs to be a large enough presense of alternatives on the shelves before a dent will ever be made.
The flag is what represents that freedom that you seem to cherish so much. That flag was the rallying point under which many people died to protect that freedom that you are using to give your opinions. I think the least you could do is respect what that flag stands for. On a side note, take a small trip to Arlington National Cemetary, and see if you still think that flag is a waste of time.
Although this is true in concept, many companies who require 24/7 solutions, can't afford to pay the staff to maintain them. This solution caters to those companies (who make up the majority of the buisness world). Now the companies can concentrate on what they create, not what platform they create on.
This is for businesses that require a 24/7 machine up and running, and cannot afford, or don't want to pay for fully certified administrators. Its a server for buisness. Its a buisness model. You buy the product, and we will suport it for a year for one flat fee. If you wish to renew your support, it will cost you next year. Its a way to generate revenue on a system where if the "community" had its way, it would starve. Desktop versions will be made availible for you to use the same as always. If you want to tinker and play, you can do that just as you always have. the "community" needs to understand that there are numerous small buisness out there that can't afford the support to run this "free as in speech" system. This is a buisness model that can get their attention. Their time is their money. They want the turn key solution. Messing around with the nuts and bolts is a waste of their money. This address that.
At first I was dissapointed at the lack of Tom Bombadil (sp), but afterwords, I realzied he didn't play that big of a part, and it was probably good to cut the movie at 3 hours, instead of dragging it out. Thanks goes to the producers and screen play writers for thinking ahead...
I grabed my compaq armada 1500c for $400. It is a celeron 300Mhz/96Meg Ram/4.0 GB hdd. For the price, it was well worth it. The batery life is at about 3 hours a pop with about an hour to charge. I have no complaints and while it is far from being a desktop replacement(as in no dvd), it does its job. Unless your looking for a system that can compare to a desktop, I think used is the way to go, if you can find one in good condition that is.
