  1. Release date on Debian Announces Sarge Will Include GNOME 2.8 · · Score: 3, Funny

Yah! A Debian insider is reported to have said that the Sarge release will form part of a bundle with Duke Nukem Forever.

  2. One very important note.. on 230mph Electric Car · · Score: 1

Gasoline powered cars may not be bettered by battery powered cars for the forseeable future. However, gasoline won't last for ever. Now I know that battery powered cars are recharged, in the main, by 'fossil fuelled' power stations. But when the fuel runs out the governments will HAVE to seriously deal with the nuclear fission problem, the sustainables (wind, water, solar). In those times, a battery car that GOES will be better than any porsche.

Unless you run on BioDiesel or indeed SugarCaneGasohol.

Just some points that came to mind..

  7. Not quite on-topic but.. on Shopping for a New Monitor? · · Score: 1

I've bought myself a Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 17" (750SB)Monitor fairly recently after seeing a friends screen. It is the BEST CRT display I have ever owned or seen (short of the 21" we have at work on the SGI's.

So in answer to the original poster: I look around at what friends, colleagues &c have got. Find one I like. Buy it mailorder/online. If I don't like it, use my 'cooling off' period to return it no questions asked.

    Just my GBP 0.02.. Kev

  9. There's still hope for Saddam/Bin Laden then? on Getting More Face Time · · Score: 2, Interesting

Hey, these two guys could do with this technology - like now! I can just hear George W's speech.. "We've found that the faces of two international terrorists have been transplicated..."

  10. This has already happened.. on Getting More Face Time · · Score: 5, Funny

I think this face transplanting has been going on for quite some time. Why, as a student I would go out to a bar and go home with a beautiful stunner. But, next day her face had been 'transplanted' leaving the stunner with the face of a munter. ;-)

"Perhaps these types of experiments are best relegated to little known, deserted islands far away from the reaches of civilization (or perhaps regulation) ..."

I believe this is fairly common practice in the realms of animal research where, for example, the UK or Germany bans a certain procedure. The work is simply performed under licence in South Africa. Hardly a Third World country but certainly one with less strict laws!

  12. Software has always been there on Has Software Development Improved? · · Score: 1

As any follower of the Tao knows. The software has always been there - the coder simply allows the Code to BECOME the software. Only new coders try to create the Code - followers of the Tao let the Code shape itself.

This is the way it has always been - and will be forever. ;-)
