faster failure modes. If there is a possible downside to blockchain technology the financial market will find it, exploit it, sell derivatives based on it and crash both the blockchain as well as their backup solution. "What backup solution?" will be their parting shot.
Bank of America is a miserable company there are many, many detailed accounts of atrocious behavior to their customers, of their workers and now they partner with MSFT? I thought MSFT was trying to improve their reputation, not sink it.
This does exactly what MSFT has claimed that their always on telemetry isn't for. IF the data is anonymized then this patent cannot support a particular user. Since they will be watch every single keystroke, the timing of same, and will obviously know the exact context the user is typing this will be easily sent to the NSA when the user eventually types something 'of interest'.
Thankfully it is software and doesn't deserve a patent anyway. It isn't valid in the EU but since they did apply here in the good dumb old USA they not only are working actively on this solution, they want to monetize it as well. Luckily we can see the absurd patents, even though we have a significant problem stopping them. So, either the NSA will be able to tap that feed or MSFT will be commanded via court order with gag to provide it for as many people as they can, aka everybody.
Either MSFT is a clueless multi-tentacled monstrosity or they are lying - or both.
Same old crap from the antiquated media company hilariously known as fortune.com. They are heavily invested in pissing in the general direction of anything apple. They deserve no links or references here on/. the tech nerd news site.
One wonders if The Idiot Comey is adding to the problem. Encryption is effective! Let's turn it on. He is constantly beating the drum, while to us in the tech fields it just proves he's an idiot (and a liar, an a fool, and...) to those outside of the 'establishment' he is telling them it works.
Seriously, an apple article by money.CNN.com?
WTF, how is this even interesting, much less related to news for nerds. No technology, just more pandering to both sides of the apple/anti-apple divide.
Give me an article detailing, or hell even hinting, about new tech from apple, or about swift 2 or when swift 3 will be out. Would apple want to use or be able to use Intel's 10nm fab? Why not? Or Why?
money? Cnn.com? Clueless sites do promote tech, must less good tech.
Apple? Never even came up at MSFT. This is all about Steam and Sony. Apple TVs are running ARM, not an APU and could run a modern console game (even if it was ported).
However, it has everything to do with getting their corporate butt kicked by Sony in the console space; Sony out spec'd them with the AMD/APU and memory. The other reason (it might even be the main reason) is Steam. They want to force all W10 products, in particular video games, to come through their app store and run on UWP. Or whatever acronym they are using for Universal Windows Platform. The same *platform* that will allow console games to run unmodified on W10. The hilarious news is they will no doubt lock the games to console speeds to enable cross platform play within MSFT products.
Now add that to the W10 new installations only allowed signed device drivers and you get one more grab at vendors cash. MSFT W* certified stickers cost tens of thousands. Each driver iteration is a nice little chuck of change for corporate.
And how many products are on the market that are really Intel products? Not very many, yes you can buy chips and systems with Intel chips. But products? Not very many. Oooh, let's not forget the LUC. There's an over priced product that fits perfectly with Intel. Slow to ship, high priced and appears its main focus is to advertise their chips. So other companies can make better, cheaper versions - which they already were doing.
Or we can talk about Edison; also overpriced, also very slow to ship and trying to compete with Arduino? The miscues are hilarious throughout.
The only thing new here is that it was pitched by their newest CEO, who is a fab guy. No other experience needed as fabs are the only business (Intel BS).
Seriously, Fab Boi, just build chips, ship them, then shut up and get out of our way.
They do this all the time. Hardly worthy of a response although I am glad to see a clarification regarding RH and snap. The lack of communication is amusing.
However, let's not forget Red Hat *cough* systemd *cough*, spits on floor.

Well said, you not only said what I was thinking but said it better.

Hot hardware? Seriously, if it the posting is from them (and it is) always link in Anandtech and Techreport if available. http://www.anandtech.com/show/... http://techreport.com/review/3...

You're right, however ... you cannot trademark it.
