Has anyone heard of a guy named Michael Crichton? Hmmmm??? Oh yes, let's not forget Frank Herbert and Greg Bear. Oh, and of course people will still be reading Timothy Zahn, Kevin J. Anderson, and Michael Stackpole.
My school, the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJHSST), owns www.tjhsst.edu and uses it. Some students bought www.tjhsst.com and posted a "not so nice" cartoon making fun of one of the teachers. The school administrators asked it to be taken off. There was a lot of hubbub and eventually one kid got suspended, and one kid filed a lawsuit. Now www.tjhsst.com hosts a forum for free speech for students.
How are you supposed to copy a DVD without decrypting it? You can't record to a VCR, and I've tried to record it to my hard drive via my graphics card (Matrox Marvel G200-TV). but neither works. Are you suggesting you plop a video camera in front of a TV, record the DVD playing on the TV, then record the tape to the hard drive via the graphics card?
ExtremeTech has it too......

Eventually, yeah. Most of the users will be hackers, crackers, and warez d00dz using defunct cable and phone line networks. Someone will eventually shut it down.
I think some sort of new protocol or way of transmitting data will be invented. All you would need to connect to this *new* internet would be a new PC Card (and ISP monthly costs). Yes, it could be dedicated to multimedia stuff, too.
My theory is that eventually this evolve into 2 Internets. One used by businesses and *maybe* individuals. The other is the existing one that will be used by the Internet underground, or those who cannot afford the New Internet.
Someone should really develop a PDA for school use. It should have a looseleaf paper sized monochromes LCD screen, DataPlay disc readers (put textbooks and workbooks on DataPlay discs!), and maybe hand-writing recognition. They would only cost like 200 bucks too.
"People should be allowed to keep midgets as pets."
Of course, you should realize that this is, in fact, the system that will one day send Arnold Schwarzenegger back in time in order to kill a young pretty lass by the name of Sarah Connor.
I thought Arnold was sent back in time to kill her son.

Check it out.
Yeah, um, I thought the Olympics were for physical feats, not mental. Are there no "mental" olympics? If not, there should be.

I thought he was arrested for selling copies of software written to break the encryption.
It should be noted that the install program for KaZaA lets you choose what software to install. I merely unclick all of them. Not a big deal.

Oh yes, thats it.
Does it offer backwards-compatibility so it can run 32-bit programs?
I don't see how any treaty can interfere with the 1st Amendment.
Hey, pick up this months issue of SciAm. It has a cool article on the physical limits of supercomputers. A good read.
