  1. Feel free to write a science fiction book with the premise, but in science you have to work with what you've got. As far as we can say, there is no way to just make a stars tremendous heat output just go away.

    Except that in this case there is big money on both sides of this issue. Google, Netflix, Amazon, MS, etc... aren't just going to stand idly by while Comcast gets their way on this.

    The problem is the mathematician is just thinking about what i possible in principle. While this problem is in principle no different from determining if 2^10+1 has an even or odd number of prime factors, in reality the scales of computational resources required put it forever out of reach.

    Just because you're roommates doesn't mean you need to split everything, right? He can pay for the cable bill, and you don't touch the cable and just use whatever services you prefer.

    They'll get their money one way or the other. Eventually they'll probably charge Netflix, on top of us, to deliver their content so they'll get paid on both ends as the middle man.

    I could be wrong, but isn't that illegal under current laws?

    Who exactly is Google conning? So far, the only ones losing money on self-driving cars are the companies like Google that are researching them.

    Again, it's naive to think that the cars driving software will be infallible, but most accidents are caused by the fallibility of human drivers. All Google needs to do to save thousands of lives and millions of dollars is be a little better than people, a goal which should not be hard to reach.

    Yes, today the earth is quite a bit warmer than 45,000 years ago, considering the ice ago that was going on at the time.

    Definitely they were going to lay somebody off. Clearly making more money moves you closer to the top of the list when management is looking to cut costs.

    There's no use for them. I stick them in a jar until it's full then exchange them for usable credits at the nearest CoinStar machine. Taking the time to count them yourself isn't even worth it. Nickles and dimes can be used for parking meters, but other than that they are mostly useless too.

    Why would you want the bulb to change color when it is dimmed? I ever saw that as a feature on the dimmers I've used.

    On Amazon you can get drives ranging from 2-8 GB in the 1-2 dollar range. There's also a 128MB one for a cent. Any way you parse it, the numbers are way off.
