    When someone installs Linux, they expect it to be like Windows because it is on a machine that had Windows on it I assume you mean that's what you expect. I ran Mac OS before I started using Linux. I never ran Windows on one of my own machines.

    All of the same could be said about Alien except it had three sequels, thus it is better.

    At least that's what I would say if I though those external factors meant anything regarding the quality of the film itself.

    Regardless of your views on IP law they are indisputably depriving you of your privacy. Of course that is a right that was sadly overlooked by our founding fathers, and even if it wasn't it would likely be maintained by our current government only when convenient to them.

    That is assuming that the search/seizure takes place on US ground There's no technicality there. The Constitution applies to the US government, not to the territory. Therefore anywhere that the US government has jurisdiction the Constitution applies, and that obviously includes border crossings, airports, covert CIA detention centers, and gitmo.

    And another technicality is that if you aren't an US citizen - does the constitution apply then? Yes, except for a few parts of the Constitution where citizenship is specifically mentioned.

    Unallocated space wouldn't be filled with high-entropy random bytes. That's a tip-off that it has encrypted data. It could if someone had wiped the disk by overwriting it with random bits at some point.

    Weak argument? No not everyone is born into perfect circumstances, but parents aren't typically going out of their way to cause these difficulties for their children either. Their is a world of difference between having a child in a less then perfect situation, which basically every parent does, and having a child that you willfully turned into a social outcast. That is not reductio ad absurdum, it is just an absurd argument.

    The obvious reason why they shouldn't be implanted is because not everyone would want to be turned into a glowing mutant. Some people might not mind, but probably most people would rather not be forced to go through middle school with a green hue.

    In general that may tend to be true, but I'm not sure it's always the case. I'd be willing to bet that the space race in the 60's produced more technological advancement than the "War on Terra" will ever produce.

    How much do you think someone would pay for a B&W display these days? I would guess laptop makers are going to pass on ePaper especially considering that OLEDs are coming along fast. ePaper is great in it's niche, but OLED is the display tech I'm looking forward too.

    Well, at least you've got a good reason for the mess they're in! At least you were able to recover the files. It's my worst nightmare to lose the RAID1 I have all my music on and have to rip everything again.

    Forget about the computer, I couldn't stand to have 8k files in one directory. I've got ~10k music files, but they are sorted by artist and album. That way the largest directory, Artists, has only ~500 files.

    So on same rule, they can't take action without a complaint to search for person they think is missing. They obviously do think the person is missing. The police wouldn't know about the person without a missing persons report being filed.

    That is entirely the persons fault. If the persons last message to anyone was "I'm leaving and don't want to be found" instead of a suicide threat then the police wouldn't have wasted their time.
