I only type urls in the url bar so it's unhelpful if it matches things which are not in the url. Yes I read what you said, I almost exclusively type urls in the address bar also. So I ask again, what's the problem. Why do you care if a page title is added to the end of the dropdown list? In my experience, as in the example you gave, the desired page will still be the first autocomplete suggestion.
With the new address bar whichever page you go to most will be the first suggestion it gives you. If your webmail is the most frequent one then it will be first. If it's not then type one more letter.
I don't get the problem with the new bar. Sure it's bigger than before but it works quite sensibly.
If Engadget were to post rumors regarding the specs of an upcoming T-Mobile handset, there could be a real risk of consumer confusion over whether the information is from an official T-Mo source or not. If only our legal system wasn't based on the assumption that people are morons.
I guess in the end, it is a fairly simply philosophical matter. A question on whether a person is willing to risk supporting something that's criminal in most parts of the world for other things the person believes in or not. Speaking for myself, my opposition to child pornography has nothing to do with its legal status. I support some things that are currently illegal and I oppose some things that are currently legal. My personal morals are not linked to the whims of lawmakers.
I am not interested in running a freenet node because despite its potential for good the reality is that the chances that my actions will actually accomplish any good are vanishingly small while it's almost a certainty that I would be aiding the distribution of harmful material. There are other ways to support free speech without also compromising my belief in not causing harm to others.
Did you read the article you linked to? The final conclusion is that cities should not put designated crosswalks at every intersection. Either that means people aren't entitled to safely cross every road they cross or it means that drivers need to be aware of pedestrians and prepared to stop for them, regardless of whether or not they are in a crosswalk.
Also the quote you used, "Feeling safe, they may aggressively enter crosswalks without proper consideration of approaching traffic in the mistaken belief that the motor vehicle can -- and will -- stop for them", has nothing to do with the legality of right of way. It's about the fact that it's dangerous to assume drivers are going to stop for you when crossing the road.
Don't get me wrong, I didn't mean to imply that I think the secure web server is going to be slow, but it could be. I think the idea is good but we won't know how competitive their implementation is until they release it.
question instead what the hammer may allow you to do whatever its cost. Knock the arms off of statues at the museum? I'm not sure I need the extra cost for that.
What makes you think that? The slowness the comment was referring to was not due to the rendering engine, it's the extra layers beneath it that haven't yet proven themselves.
Indie doesn't actually mean not signed to a record label, if it did then that would be quiet a problem for indie labels such as Sub-Pop and Alternative Tentacles. All indie means is that the band is not signed to one of the big labels.
You're almost right in that the term means the only guaranteed good point of an indie band is that they aren't signed to the RIAA but it certainly doesn't mean it's the only good point. I've heard some very good (and some very bad) indie music covering a huge spectrum of styles. Please don't hold it against the music just because you don't like the pretensions of some of the fans. Their are insufferable fans of all kinds of music.
Nothing wrong with liking older classic music, but what brands you as a "tool of the man" is saying that no indie music is decent just because you don't like it.
Anyway, if you like old music you got nothing to complain about since you can get your music in the used bin for <$5.00
It is naive to think it is simply a cheap shot. During the primary the choice between Obama and Clinton was easy, Obama. This nutcase reverend thing is a real issue though, and it is not because anyone seriously believes Obama shares the reverend's opinions. It's got to be political theatre since there's isn't a thing the Reverend said that would qualify him as a nutcase. He was basically right about everything he said. Well I've heard someone say (not sure it's true) that he also said AIDS was a racist government plot. Okay, that's wrong but if we just swap "Tuskegee airmen" for "AIDS" then his point remains and all is factually well again. The weirdest thing is that the line I hear the most people getting their panties in a bunch over, the "god damn America" line is the one that at least some on the Christian right are in agreement with him on. I mean how is saying "Why should God bless America?" really any different? Both the religious right and the religious left agree that the US has been responsible for some really terrible (and yes, damnable) things in its history.
Also interesting is how in the other big line of his, the "chickens coming back to roost" one the Reverend was actually paraphrasing a former US ambassador to Iraq, Edward Peck, who was interviewed on Fox News after 9/11. Of course you would have no idea that the "racist" minister was actually referencing a very white American ambassador if you only saw the context free clips on the 24 hour news networks.
There was likely e-mail on those drives that could've had a massive negative effect on the President and his administration How does the President trying to cover-up misdeeds equate to "national security interests"?
I was just thinking the same thing. I'd rather pay an extra nickle in taxes to cover Roves plotting how to bring down Democrats if it prevents future Presidents from hiding whatever communications they want by claiming that they were political emails.
Of course it wouldn't have made a difference with these assholes anyways since they didn't preserve the backups of their official emails either. I guess even more important than having good laws is having elected officials that care about enforcing them.
Ok, so are you prevented from just typing in addresses in the address bar? If that's all you want I fail to see what's stopping you.
Change your habits. Type ebay when you want to go to ebay and type "bank" or whatever when you want to go to your bank. Problem solved.
Why do that? Everyone knows bitching is easier than change.

However nicely the letter was phrased it is still an idiotic request.
How about Darwin Day?
The page says that was a change they made after they received the letter. That version of the logo was not part of the complaint.

Ahh yes, bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The answer to all our security problems :)

My local record store is a record label you ignorant clod!
Thank you for the correction, yes I meant the Tuskegee syphilis experiment.

I'm not sure if there's a nice way to say this other than please pull your head out of your ass before commenting again. You'll look less foolish.
Because it took them awhile to destroy all those disks they had sitting around in storage.
