Admittedly it's been a long time since I've read the book, but I seem to remember the destruction of books being done because the general consensus of the populace was that knowing stuff caused people to be less happy. I don't remember it being forced on the people by an authoritarian government.
I'm not sure such a lawsuit friendly country can handle being told you have to wait months for treatment or that you can't have a certain treatment because it's not cost effective.
You seem to think that people aren't denied costly treatments under our current system. You would be mistaken.
Well it wasn't about censorship, at least not by a strict definition of the word. The point of the book was not that people weren't allowed to read, it's that they didn't want to be able to read.
I've had plenty of deserts sprinkled with gold. Sorry, but there's just no detectable flavor. Maybe in larger quantities it would have some flavor, but the amounts used are tiny. It's purely decorative.
Maybe if you haven't ever tried it you shouldn't be so contradictory.
Xmms is no longer maintained either, the developers have all moved on to Xmms2. So yeah, distro's don't include software that's been abandoned upstream.
You do realize not every city is a post-apocalyptic hellhole, right? There are options other than living in a gang warzone or living in a secluded suburb miles from anything.
Maybe we would know who he was if his name was spelled correctly. It's Thomson, no "P". Regardless, namedropping some stem-cell research does not an argument make.
Admit it, you just added that second paragraph to make your post longer than 140 characters to try and prove your point. In reality your first 78 characters said it all.
I was watching a show about the FBI and one of their cyber-crimes guys agreed with you. He said just having some illegal photos in your browser cache wasn't something he would be interested in prosecuting.
Actually I'm pretty sure only evidence collected illegally by police is inadmissible. Although it seems obvious that the guy was snooping around the computer, even if that was illegal I don't think it would make the evidence inadmissible.
Yes, I am. Even ignoring virtual particles a perfect vacuum is just a theoretical construct, there is no such thing in reality. Some vacuums are better than others but none are completely particle free.
Really, there's no reason to suppose that "emtpy space" represents the medium through which light flows the fastest
There kind of is. When light travels through a medium it is slowed down due to interactions with particles. The less it interacts with particles the faster the light travels. The photon's themselves don't ever actually change speed. How do you suppose that a substance could cause the light to travel faster than the speed of the photons themselves?
Well if it is a public performance, than listening to a CD in your apartment or car with the windows open would also constitute a public performance.

I wasn't interested in argument, just correcting you. If I was I would have went to room 12a, just along the corridor.

I think the main difference is that they broke it up into a client/server design. The advantage of that being the freedom to use whatever UI you like.
In theory that sounds like a good idea, but I've never tried it since the development was going pretty slowly.
Xmms is no longer maintained either, the developers have all moved on to Xmms2. So yeah, distro's don't include software that's been abandoned upstream.
No.
It doesn't have any flavor at all. It's only use is to make expensive foods more expensive.
Or do both. I typically buy an album at the merch table if I like the band and they always really appreciate the sale.

Perhaps you should get out of your suburb more.
Maybe we would know who he was if his name was spelled correctly. It's Thomson, no "P". Regardless, namedropping some stem-cell research does not an argument make.
Because 3.0 probably doesn't support the HTML 5 tags it needs. Try it in 3.5.
I don't see that as a danger though. On the contrary, it sounds like a very beneficial thing for medical researchers to be aware of.
Admit it, you just added that second paragraph to make your post longer than 140 characters to try and prove your point. In reality your first 78 characters said it all.
Good point. Scalpers should follow their lead and just sell their tickets for face value with a $15 convenience fee tacked on.
I don't know about you, but when I buy a CD I don't do it because I like the shiny disc. I'm paying for the music.

Same thing that stops the cops from doing the spying themselves. Anyone working on their behalf is bound to the same laws regarding evidence.

The casimir cavity is a vacuum.
