  1. Re:ATI Driver Issues on Fedora 12 Beta Released · · Score: 1

I installed mine manually using this as a guide:
    http://www.phoronix.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17603

But if you run the command:
    yum install mesa-dri-drivers-experimental
it should hopefully clear things up for you.

  2. Shadowbane was amazing on Ubisoft To Shut Down Shadowbane · · Score: 3, Informative

I played it for about a year and a half when it was new. It had a pretty decent following though nothing anywhere near the level of something like WoW.

It was really fun though especially during a "bane". For those who didn't play, a bane was when you effectively declared war on someone else's city. Once set up, each side was given a set amount of time to prepare (like a day or a week or something, I forget) and then once it went off, all of the town's buildings were vulnerable and if you destroyed their tree of life, their town was taken over by the other team. Shadowbane wasn't about gold, loot or missions though there was plenty of that. It was about full on guild vs guild battles. I've never really found a MMO with quite the same experience. So this is very sad for me even though I have no time to play a game like this anyway.

Ultimately, I think it was killed by griefers, people who didn't like PvP leaving the game and constant crashing that they didn't fully fix until about the time I stopped playing.

"Many famous people and mythical heroes were said, by one group or another, to have been born of a virgin. Among them were Julius Caesar, Augustus, Aristomenes, Alexander the Great, Plato, Cyrus, the elder Scipio, some of the Egyptian Pharaohs, the Buddha, Hermes, Mithra, Attis-Adonis, Hercules, Cybele, Demeter, Leo, and Vulcan. For this reason it seems likely that Matthew and the Greek translators of the Septuagint did not discover the virgin birth idea in Isaiah, but imposed it upon the text."

It's exactly the same in both cases. Both are voluntary. A minor can be restricted from seeing a rated R movie because that's what the theatre decides. This is the same with video games except the store decides whether or not the minor should be allowed to purchase/rent/view it.

The MPAA rating system isn't government regulated. It's all voluntary. (except when something is deemed obscene). That's why I could go see rated R movies when I was 13 without adult people. It's up to the theatre to decide

There are laws that have to do with obscenity in most states. An interactive porno would still be considered to be obscene and would still be restricted under different laws

"Due to Soviet political structure at the time, the inventor, Alexey Pajitnov, was not able to patent his game. This gave rise to many sundry Tetris clones for all manner of machines."

So i think the first guy was probly making it up. Why else would there be so many clones?

I remember playing Phantasy Star Online on the Dreamcast without a keyboard. Everything was fine for a bit because it had some of the more common phrases in easy to navigate menus, but after awhile the need to communicate for the sake of organizing, trading and such became too great and i got tired of spending 3 minutes writing a sentence that i finally just broke down and got a keyboard. While I'm sure playing this sans keyboard is perfectly possible, it kind of defeats the whole purpose of it being an online game.

IANAL but its fairly obvious that a Dutch court would have the proper authority.
