The way the US dollar is going, you won't be able to afford "cheap" cars from China anyway. Yeah Bernanke harps on about how good a weak dollar is for exports. The US has always consumed more than it produces and the reality of the situation is that even Chinese crap is becoming expensive.
I actually read the scientific article. You know if you get shot in the head I don't need to see it done repeatedly to figure out that this is probably fatal for you.
We're saying that life has NEVER been asked to adapt this fast to climatic change.
We the anonymous cowards? Never? Where are the dinosaurs? Where are the trilobites? Mass extinctions have happened before and they can't all have been caused by meteor strikes. In fact that theory has fallen into disfavor lately - the strike in the Yucatan happened and it's a nice explanation for the Iridium, but there's not enough evidence that it actually caused the extinction. So we're left with, perhaps, a sudden climate change?
Add to this the data coming from the sun's radiation changing (story was on slashdot a few weeks ago) and it's starting to look hard for you anthropogenic nutjobs. No one intelligent will deny climate change - it's happening very obviously. No one will deny that polluting less and conserving more is never a bad idea. However when you use lies to achieve your ends that's not science. It's politics, and possibly religion.
No it didn't. If you look at a very limited portion of the data (ie the time since the last ice age) do you see only the warming trend. If you look at ALL the data (like the Vostok ice core), like you should, then you'd know that sea level has been higher than today, the planet has been hotter than today, and that these cyclical trends are normal for our planet. But looking only at the subset of the data that supports your hypothesis and ignoring the rest is not science at all.
Don't worry, the shit will hit the fan soon and all of this will be irrelevant. There will be wire-taps a plenty in the new republic, but the power and wealth will have been redistributed to someone else.
Exactly what I was going to say. I'm sure there's a correlation between tough economic conditions and the migration of women to traditionally non-feminine fields. Perhaps it's strong enough that it could even be used as an indicator of some sort - the GGI for Girl Geek Index.
Lung cancer is actually one of the least of your worries if you smoke. There are so many other diseases (especially coronary artery disease) and exotic cancers caused by tobacco smoke that if you get lung cancer you might even consider yourself lucky.
Because America "won the space race" of course, which is why they no longer have a manned space program and no longer have any say in the decisions. But don't worry there are many expensive Mars rover projects that are almost ready to be cancelled.
That's not correct. Mathematically your resultant acceleration is 0 because, as you pointed out, the forces are exactly opposite and equal. However the forces are there. You ARE accelerating both towards and away from the center of the Earth. Otherwise you have to start believing in magic - the magical earth "detecting" when you are no longer supported by a surface (and hence the normal force) and suddenly applying acceleration to you because of this.
While it's convenient to ignore the balanced forces because it makes the math easier and more legible, it doesn't mean that they're not there. They are ALWAYS there.
I don't really understand why owning 27% of the search market is being shown as a failure.
Success, failure - these are highly subjective terms. If Microsoft set itself the goal of being the #1 search engine by now then yeah, they have failed. If they wanted over a quarter of the market, then they have succeeded. However a pretty objective measure of failure is the fact that they are not making money with this project, regardless of what their "share" is.
Nah, a strategic reserve should be saved for dire strategic need, not for short term political gains. Once it's gone, it's gone. Hang on to that popcorn, we are about to live in interesting times.

The words "since the last ice age" should be a big hint. Your dart is nowhere near the industrial revolution.
And Mendel was a Catholic monk. Let's throw all of genetics away too!

I never stopped boycotting them...
95% are NOT willing to spend $50.

First, derailed trains due to incompetent engineering.
Yeah, trains only derail in China.
"load up some fuel". Yeah, it's so easy to write something like that. Now go out and earn the few billion dollars it will take to "load up some fuel".
Why don't we get a say in this?
Because America "won the space race" of course, which is why they no longer have a manned space program and no longer have any say in the decisions. But don't worry there are many expensive Mars rover projects that are almost ready to be cancelled.
You want good reviews from people you received cash from to be declared fake by your algorithm? Don't quit your day job...

Velocity - another vector. Not a "context". Learn 2 physics.

On the other hand what does this say about the evolution of computer users... it seems that there isn't any.
i c what u did there
See the asterisk by my name? That means I pay for slashdot. If I don't like something about a service I subscribe to I will damned well say so.
The dupe is still on the front page. Sometimes I wonder why I even bother. It's not like the editors do.

Especially considering the distance. That (all over d^2) really has a major impact after a while...more than any petty decigrams of dust.
Neutrons too, I imagine.
