The problem is that the density per disc is currently only about 125GB. So any drive over 125GB will have more than a single platter. The WD4000YR has 5 platters as do the Hitachi 400GB and 500GB. This extra mass is the problem which leads to higher temperatures, more noise and more power consumption.
160GB per platter is just on the horizon and with newer TUMR heads expect that to go up to 250GB per platter in a year. I wouldn't hold my breath for perpendicular recording. It still seems to be a couple years away.
Why not just power the car with natural gas to begin with? This has to be way more efficient since you skip an entire energy conversion.
I was in Europe recently where people were retrofitting natural gas tanks on their cars for about $300. No real modification was needed for the motor only the tank had to be connected to the fuel injection. Economically it made sense since the price of gas was about $6 a gallon and this allowed a savings of approximately 50% over the cost of gas.
In the US, however, natural gas is not really economical so I don't think it would save you any money.
The problem with this strategy is that it relies on a relevent amount of listeners to quit listening. I doubt most people are informed or just don't care.
My Starting Salary was $60000 a year with an EE degree from a lesser known Engineering School. Name a profession where you can make more with a bachelor's degree.
Just put a cardboard tube around the lens. If the detector is not right in front of the camera (i.e. you are taking a picture of the detector) it wont be able to see the lens.
This is just marketing by AMD. There is no way that Intel and AMD would come to agreement on the benchmarking software to use. Both companies know their weak points and their strong points. Neither company is going to agree to lose.
Have we in the left boiled down to blaming Bush for everything? Unfortunately this view doesn't win votes against Bush. As long as there is no credible opponent and vision we are doomed.
Western Digital still makes 8GB drives for XBOX. These are really 20GB platters that have been short stroked to 8GB since microsoft wants uniformity. In reality these are 80GB platters that didn't make it. Western Digital doesn't produce any drives with less than 80GB platters now. All the 80GBs that you find commonly in Dells are single platter.
Do you think Edision and Bell were the only ones who were working on the the lightbulb and the telephone? No, but they got the patents and history remembers them as the inventors. I'm not saying this is right but it is not new.
Exactly. Hardly a comparison at all. There is only one drive that is comparable in size (Hitachi 7k500). With 400GB drives available from Both Western Digital and Seagate you think they should have been included in the roundup.
Where is WD? This 'review' seems like fanboy fluff to me. The access time on the Maxtor is the worst of all the drives compared and no where is this mentioned in the conclusion.

parent is obviously trolling.
so where do they get the electricity to refine the hydrogen?
that has more than a few megabites of storage without adding an additional flash card.
Most people just want to listen to music. Also show me a PDA with a 60GB drive.

Sounds to me like you shouldn't be driving.

Everyone knows gorillas have impressive tools.
My T-mobie phone is locked to my sim. I was traveling in the UK and ironically I could see the T-mobile service network but I couldn't access it.
This is Mississippi and Louisana. Last I checked they had more than enough bibles.
It was a joke. I just copied the FP from the previous thread as the OP suggested.

But the real question is whether causal marijuana usage really has a lasting effect on your IQ.

For those of you who can't do two conversion in a single calculation, this comes out to over $14 a gallon in US dollars.
Slashdot is dying.
