As far as I can see, this article says nothing about accessing any file. It only mentions the ability to access the shared files list. Of course I haven't tried it, so I could be wrong.
Just tried it, but can't get it to go at all in Konqueror. In Mozilla I can't figure out how to load it, and netscape crashes my X server when I run the radiosity demo. Anyone else having problems? Thanks,
Are there any other patches available that just work on CD-ROM's mounting them when inserted and umounting them when ejected? I've played with autofs, but it's not the best for this purpose.
Yeah, I'd like to see that as well. Maybe Mandrake have just taken the most recent release of supermount and reworked it to work on 2.4.17. I wish the maintainer was still working on it. It really looks like something that should be included in 2.5.
This is slightly offtopic, but are there any free voice conferncing programs for Linux and windows? I've tried Gnomemeeting, but it uses a flawed system that doesn't work with NAT easily. I'd like to find a program that could do this, and use GPG keys for encryption for an added coolness feature. Any coming soon? Thanks,
There's no reason why they should happen. Any ISP should have filtering in place to:
1. Not allow any packet to go out with a source IP other than the one the user is using.
2. Detect the signatures of DoS attacks outgoing on their networks and block them. They should then kick the user until he removes the Ircbot/DoS bot.
The problem I find with KDevelop is the lack of integration of GUI design and coding. This is a staple in all modern IDE's, and I'd like to see it in KDevelop. An interface like Borland's would be great for KDevelop.
Talking about methods, why can't we just create a method to trick their method? Open Source people have gotten around all sorts of firewalls and similiar in the past, so just create a new IP Masq module for the kernel that can avoid these stupid detection systems and make it look like a single Linux box. It would probably be difficult but it isn't un-doable.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. Sure, patent the device first, but then hand one to an independant university research team to verify your claims. I say "independant" because some would have preconcieved notions about it being impossible. They should test the hypothesis that it doesn't work. When readings show it does work, then they should find out why it worked. This is the only way to prove these claims.
If they inventor won't allow this to be done we can assume it's a hoax.
With a warp drive that compresses space ahead of your vehicle, and expands it behind your vehicle, you can break the 300,000,000 km/sec speed limit law. However you are still not travelling faster than light in any frame of reference you will arrive at your destination as if you had. You also won't suffer the relatavistic problems of near-light speed travel.
Anyone tried using a transparent SOCKS proxy for this task? I know there is one in Debian, but does anyone know how well it works? I'd basically like to be able to get Netmeeting and P2P to work from behind my firewall when I'm trying to connect to someone else who's behind a firewall. Thanks,
We don't need any new laws or anything to stop attacks.
All that needs to be done is for EVERY ISP to not allow any packet to leave their network that has a source address that they don't own. This would stop the script kiddies from being able to cover their tracks as easily.
Is there an equivilant of your program for Linux? I want something that will provide me with a web based interface that shows with graphs that shows the traffic that's unmetered and what's metered. Anyone know of one?
Maybe that should be a new feature of slashcode. An automatic searcher thingy that would look for similiar articles and warn the editor that is a similiar article and allow them to view it. It would search on URL's keywords and title.
I think you mean battle royalle not royal.

BTW I was looking at the note on using the exploit that someone just posted. I should have replied to that one, not the article
:-)

Don't tell me the genetic engineers have been playing with penguin DNA now! First goats spinning silk, now penguins with two heads! :-)
Umm, how was it then that I actually downloaded it and tried it?

Then you'd have a bunch of extremist astronomers going around commiting a terrorist war against light pollution. :-)
Another thing that would be cool would be a KDE frontend. :-)
What's the best codec for using with dialup modems? Also is there a way to see if you're friends are online? Thanks,
David
It doesn't do voice or video though.

That would end DoSing.

KStars is part of KDE and also in Debian. It's much better and under active development.

Is there a good HOWTO for setting it up with 2.4 somewhere? Thanks,
David

or Brismesh in Brisbane. We are aiming to create a non-commercial Australia wide internet that will serve as an alternative to the internet.
