Is it just me, or is anyone else interested in being able to slap an Oracle based distro install CD in a drive, hitting yes a few times, getting a coffee, coming back and having an oracle server ready for them?
I'm a developer, not a DBA. The companies I have worked at (web development agencies) did not need a DBA. They did development, not support/maintenance. I've been er, lucky enough, to install Oracle 8i on Solaris, Redhat, NT and Win2k. Anyone else who doesn't like the first page of the install notes ("Recompiling the kernel for shared memory semaphores") will know the problems I mean. It's *hard* to install. Give me an ISO that installs right, is secure and runs Oracle right would not only get my firms cash, but it would also help establish Oracle+Linux as a solution.
I think Larry needs to turn some of his Charisma onto this sort of thing personally.
If AOL continue like this they will lose the battle for IM supremacy.
I used to run three clients, even four sometimes, which between them managed to consume about 15MB of RAM and confuse the shit out of me with CTRL-Return in some and Return in others to just send the damned message.
I installed Trillian the other day and think it's superb. Now I have a common interface, I've free'd up 10MB of RAM and I dont have to open and close three windows just to see if a certain friend is online.
Since Trillian removes the IM specific client from the equation, me and my mates really dont care which service we use as long as we can chat together, and if that means dumping AOL then so be it. Trillian seem to be responding to their uses requests for certain features, and they also manage to keep the bloat down. Keep up the good work, and if you can't interface with em, fuck em; they'll fall by the wayside eventually...
Ooooh, I can't make a fool out of myself on the beloved/. must I? ALL THE WORLD WILL SEE. I WILL LIVE IN ETERNAL HELL AND BE FORCED TO SUCK BILLS COCK.
Actually, now you mention it I'm pretty sure NASA doesn't exist, and the clear logical consequence of that is that neither does the United States.
Yeah yeah, and orbiting the earth is just as hard as flying to the moon, landing, dicking around for a while, taking off and getting back to Earth isn't it?
I don't hate Apollo. I don't fear being wrong. I fear your country and it's Enron-like, Bush Like, Cheney like, Rumsfeld like full of shitness.
Look I'm not some sort of conspiracy loving geek freakazoid. Shit, I'm English!
I just don't reckon, that's all. Just because I don't believe man landed on the moon doesn't mean I hate the United States. There's plenty of other reasons for that;o)
Look. They took a CAR! THEY'RE FUCKING WITH US MATE! They got cocky and decided to start taking the piss by taking a car. Right. Ok.
What one thing would you want to take with you to the uninhabited moon? THATS RIGHT. A
car would be just the ticket wouldn't it! Just what you need for, er, something or other.
I don't believe we could do it in 2002 and even get near the safety record that they 'achieved'.
Hehe. Easy dude. Deep breaths. Think of running water. Oh, maybe thats not right.
I'm entitled to my opinion right?
As for progressing from an earth-orbiting football to landing 3 men and a car on the old boy in 10 years, I just don't swallow it. Sorry.
Will this guy just quit with the numbers and tell me if I'll have the worlds collection of porn downloaded by lunchtime tomorrow? We need to know these things goddammit!.
I know I'll get wasted for this, but it has to be said that windows, in its current form, is not in the least bit unstable. I use Linux and XP every day and they are both as stable as each other, i.e. very.
Say what you like about MS, and yeah 3.1, 95, 98 and ME were a crock of shit, but 2000 and XP are rock solid. Sorry.
If we spent all our energy reacting to what happened, and none of it considering why they did it, the long term situation won't change and we won't have a long term solution, right?
Surely the machine code compiler is an unsolvable example?
I appreciate that this is not direclty related to DRM, but it is an obfuscation of sorts...
Looks to of affected? Jeeesus. Just as well no-one's pre-empting the mans English...

or maybe not.
Isn't a mandrake a small animal that likes to lobby against globalisation every other tuesday?
Anyone who makes the modifications he has made to a car like that clearly has no idea what he is doing and doesn't deserve it in the first place.
If you're going to do that to a car buy a US made shit-wagon 'sports' car like a Mustang or soemthing.
Sounds like you don't know how to configure XP mate. Sorry.
Now you have got to be fucking around.
You're really David Hasselhoff arent you?
But I have a postgraduate degree in bullshit!
People used to think the earth was flat you know?
Actually I do have a postgraduate degree. Not in geology tho. I am smart. I just think what I think, that's all.
You seem to have a superiority complex. I bet you live in Dallas! Do you work for Enron?

Lighten up man! Jeeez. Some people.
And pieces of the moon never land on earth do they?

Yeah - I have seen it.
Size doesn't matter.
I think it was used by Kennedy to fill with weed and get wasted. I hear he was giving Jackie blowbacks on that thing.

...when no-one ever went there.
Yeah, sure, analog electronics can be really powerful blah blah blah.

But that's 9.95 per month more than Microsoft...
Come on, give it a year and you'll have half a license for XP or something.
RHN is fast and free...
Standard ridiculous /. subjectivity.
There is a US and Eurooean embargo on medical aid to Iraq YOU MORON!
If we spent all our energy reacting to what happened, and none of it considering why they did it, the long term situation won't change and we won't have a long term solution, right?
Why do you think they did it?
I have a book at home that has the reference to both the torture equipment and the chemical weapons at home. I'll post that when I get in.
And you think they are attacking your freedom...
Dear oh dear.
