My plan to fund a space station? I don't have a plan to fund a space station because I don't personally want one. Instead I donate time and money to organisations that help children. I do this *voluntarily*. No need to force me to.
I don't think that's a valid or relevant point. The point is that it is his money, earned by him. Only he should be able to decide what happens to it. If he wants to help fund a space industry, then it should be up to him to voluntarily give them how ever much of his money he wants to give them. Having the state forcibly take that money from him to use for such things is fundamentally wrong. Liberty is not possible while such socialism exists.
Yes - that is better. The terms "black" and "white" are loaded with baggage and just scream out "racist" at anyone that uses them. What's wrong with caucasian?
Not all of those taxpayers though - only some of them, There will be many people who won't use this new broadband network, Is it fair that they be forced to pay for it without choice? No. It is not.
Is it fair that people have to pay for the road network in the country if they don't own a car?
No, it is not fair.
To pay for hospitals if they currently aren't sick?
No, though people should have some form of savings or insurance to pay for such help when needed.
The answer is clearly yes, because that infrastructure, even if it has little personal value, has tremendous value to the nation. This isn't the USA, we're actually not too worried if someone gets something without paying for it personally.
I'm keenly interested in polices that provide people with the choice as to what happens with their own wealth and property. It concerns me. Forcing someone to pay for something they do not use is not right. Forcing someone to pay for something in proportion to their income and not their use of that thing is not right either.
Investment in infrastructure will bring about new business, new wealth, and an overall improvement in the quality of life for the average Australian.
Even if the people paying for this investment have no choice in if they invest and how much they invest?
I know and understand that my success and health as an individual is related to the success and health of the nation and the people in it.
Yes indeed - as am I. I don't think that confiscating the property of supposedly free people is the way to go about it. The end does not justify the means. The state is supposed to protect us from harm, not inflict that harm upon us.
For that reason, I am keenly interested in the success of this project and the opportunities it will provide to all Australians.
I'm keenly interested in policies that provide people the choice as to what happens with their wealth. Forcibly taking money off people to spend on things they don't want is not ethical.

Our (I'm a NZer) government is small scale? Are you serious? It's nothing of the sort. We have an entrenched socialist system here, and as such it is not small scale.
Yes, indeed I agree. I also think that for the >2 output cards that Nvidia make, it would be good if TwinView would work across all outputs - at the moment I understand it present 2 TwinView "screens" each spanning 2 outputs. Not very useful. Ideally it would be a "QuadView" spanning all 4 outputs.
Can you do an accelerated triple/quad head setup with 2 Nvidia cards in any Windows flavour? If so, then what's holding Linux/xorg/KDE back?
...not if you're running the Xinerama extension to get 3 desktops as one. Compiz requires the composite extension, and composite doesn't work with xinerama, more's the pity.
No compositing effects and/or no compiz fusion are show stoppers for me. I could run one of the monitors with a different DM, but that's hardly desirable.
The only thing holding me back from upgrading to KDE4 on my primary work computer (from KDE 3.5.10) is that I need an accelerated triple head display. From what I can tell this is just not possible with KDE4, while it is working fine with KDE 3.5.10.
If only KDE4 would support 3 (or more) monitors in a accelerated setup. I also use 3 monitors, but am stuck with KDE3 until the issues with KDE4 and multi-head are sorted out.
I am using Xinerama, which slows things down, but it does work!
And there's the issue - if you use Xinerama you cannot use the COMPOSITE extensions, which means no accelerated setup. No Compiz Fusion. For me, that is a show stopper.
I can do an accelerated setup is 3.5.10, but not in any incarnation of 4.
2 monitors may work. But not 3. I have an accelerated triple head setup with KDE 3.5.10. This configuration will not work with KDE 4 because KDE 4 doesn't support two instances of KDE running in a single X server. KDE 3.5.10 does.
Speech of any kind should be ok. Speech never harms anyone - actions do. The state (of any nation) has no business limiting any speech, unless it is slanderous.
I hope this has been fixed - I can't upgrade my KDE3.5.10 desktop as I can find no acceptable way of getting an accelerated triple head system work in KDE4. It works fine in KDE3.
This is probably a bigger issue with all of the online services these days:

Freedom trumps knowledge. Knowledge is good, but it should not be acquired by means that lesson our basic liberties.
I think we should do research - I don't think it should be funded by compulsory wealth confiscation.

Does Caucasian and Negroid make you feel better?
Yes - that is better. The terms "black" and "white" are loaded with baggage and just scream out "racist" at anyone that uses them. What's wrong with caucasian?
White is not a race and neither is black.
Just saying.

It is when you consider where they got that money from. The hard work of taxpayers.
Or use Compiz Fusion, which I find faster and much more feature rich than the KWin compositing.

Or at least get an accelerated triple head setup working as it can in 3.5. This is the one reason I won't upgrade - it's a huge missing feature.
Yes, you are correct. The state has no business criminalising any kind of speech.
Should those limits be decided and enforced by the state?
Speech of any kind should be ok. Speech never harms anyone - actions do. The state (of any nation) has no business limiting any speech, unless it is slanderous.
