Someone is actually funding a game designed for the PC that maybe, just maybe, 100k people will pay $15 a month to play.
They'll spend what? $4-12 million just getting the game released and make how many boxes for store shelves.
If the idea is to spend millions designing a game for 100k people I can do that and pocket a few million in the process. With the state of graphics today it's time for a subscription PC based sex RPG... Virtual dating for Vanguard players.

Actually we all know this. You haven't made any grand statement of fact. What you are missing is that before now, there was a court order and over site... Now it's just one man deciding everything with no over site.
Every ORPG suffers from this basic problem, the only limiting factor for progress up the scale of "I won!" is time in game.
The makers of this style of game fear the twitch style or the kill points style or the land grab style of advancement. Nope, time in = advancement, is all they know.
