A "Wild West financial system" might be okay - in the Wild West. If somebody cheated you, you could track him down and shoot him. That doesn't work so well when the person cheating you is somewhere in Russia/China/Nigeria.
1. Australian English 2. American English 3. English English 4. Canadian English 5. Indian (dot) English (Well I can understand it.. just can't speak it)
So that counts as 4 or 5.
That's better than I do. Last time I talked to an Indian (dot) tech support person, I couldn't understand a word he said. Except, I think his name was Peggy.
How it is Microsoft/third-party developer's responsibility to support outdated OSes just because the OEMs where being sticks in the mud about changing what they sold?
Maybe because Microsoft took all those years to create an OS that anyone wanted to buy. Vista doesn't qualify.
Sounds familiar. When I used to take the bus to work, I had to take one bus from my house to downtown, then another from downtown to the workplace. Bus #1 usually got me downtown just in time to miss #2, and I had a 15+ minute wait for the next one. Once, seeing that I'd just missed a bus from downtown back to my house, I started walking, and made at nearly halfway home before a bus showed up!
Yes! I've had a number of minor fender-benders, with zero injuries, but if a car hit a bike with equal force, there would be injuries, and maybe deaths.
Very true! With most of my stuff, I have at least 3 copies; one of Dropbox, one on my desktop (outside the Dropbox folder), and one on my laptop (also outside Dropbox). I think the odds of DP screwing up at the same time I lose 2 machines is very slim.
I have two copies of my stuff. One in the Dropbox folder, and one outside it. If an evil/stupid Dropbox employee (or even myself at 3 AM) trashes my stuff, I still have a copy. That's a little extra work on my part, but not that much.
Seriously. The mere act of trusting someone will eventually lead to that person betraying said trust. Trusting someone puts them in a position of power, and power corrupts. You can't trust anyone.
That's a very good statement. I trust you completely.
The problem, IMHO, isn't SSN as an identifier. It's that SSN is used as a password! I wouldn't care if everyone knew that xxx-xx-xxxx belonged to Cro Magnon, but when someone can buy a car in my name with just that number, that's a serious problem.
I'd argue that we have a spending problem and a revenue problem. Think of it this way, if you were trying to pay all of you debts off, would you quit your job and find a lower paying one or would you get a second job to until things are paid off?
Hopefully, I'd quit, or at least slow down on buying everything in sight on credit.
No. I'm sure this will happen again, but it will not be soon. This was humiliating for the Republicans - a grand display with nothing to show for it. They won't bring it up again this year.
It doesn't have to be that common. My real name isn't rare, but it's a far cry from "John Smith". When I google it, I get a bunch of Facebook, Linkedin, and other pages, none of which are me. Last I looked, it wasn't until the 3rd page that I found some dumb question I asked on a mailing list, and since it didn't have a picture, nobody could prove that that one WAS me.
Probably, but at least Netflix is currently ad-free. That's about all you can hope for these days.
There is no kill switch! It's a !@#$ NO CARRIER

I've always thought one of the scariest things on the highway would be a Ford Pinto followed by a Toyota Prius.
Meh! I considered 20 young long before I got old. Of course, now I AM old! :(
Surely, this storm was caused by Global Warming!
Well, if you sleep while you work, you can double the time available to consume media. :)
I'm shocked that there's spying in this casino!
When I first heard of this, I had a mental image of the shooter going crazy, yelling "Don't touch my junk!" as he shot at every TSAgent in sight.
Hmm I can speak the following:
1. Australian English .. just can't speak it)
2. American English
3. English English
4. Canadian English
5. Indian (dot) English (Well I can understand it

We have the same issue with our current system. Though, it only affects those of us who are over 2013 years old.
Yeah, I've found that presenting the proper (or improper) finger while driving is much faster than yelling "F- off" out the window.

And, after collecting the premiums for years.

I'm sure the standard police commish will remind the standard street cop of that fact.

That's actually a decent reason to move to NK.

True. Jan 15 2014 is next year.
