With an oblong blast pattern, the trajectory of the ICBM would have to be less than 40 degrees to make any difference over a circular one. At that angle, it would make it so easy to shoot down before it even got close to NYC. No the angle will have to be between 90-60 to make a fast attack. I'm curious, where do you think would be the closest location someone could launch a missile?
