  1. However, on Scientists Build Microscope Onto The Head Of A Rat · · Score: 1
What good does having a microscope do? Im pretty sure we know what neurons look like. What would be neat is something that allows us to look at how the electrical impulses are sent and the interactions between them. Some sort of device that tracks the origin of electric signals and where they move to could be built, im sure. Of course, not having a degree in electronics or anything, i dont know how large or small this would be.

We could look and say, "Oh, it moved its leg, hmm......went from this neuron to this one........then to here...." things like that. And as far as i can imagine, thats the real mystery. But hey, everything is a step. This proves that we can make things that small, and that the animal rights people dont yell about this....yet. Shall wait and see....could be intersting.

  2. latest on Attacks On US Continued Reports · · Score: 4, Informative

Latest on the news is that the Palestinians have condemmned the attack, attention has shifted to Bin Laden who has in fact threatened us a while ago. Estimates on ABC were in the 50-60,000 dead at the world trade center alone. Pentagon they wer saying like 5,000? its all guesses right now.

So my question is what happens after a few years? Most sensors of one sort do wear out after a period of time.... So when i start getting pulled over and stuff becuase my sensor doens't work...what defense can i claim? Or will this be like that rent-a-car GPS thing and automatically ticket me? I dont like it.

Is it just me, or did i notice nothing about identification or security. Guess it sucks to be me once someone figures out how to make it look like im the one thats drunk.

Although, this does introduce a new market possibly.....brethalizer jammers.

  4. New idea? on Learning Java Through Violence · · Score: 1

Wow, someone finally gets it, make an educational game that is actually interesting! Seriously, id bet if developers/companies/whoever made educational games that were actually fun to play, they could do well, esp. dealing with computers......programming......stuff like that.

  5. Sad. . . on Why Can't LEGO Click? · · Score: 1

I remember when i was a kid.....before i had my computer i had legos. That was my source of joy. Yes i had my nintendo and all, but still......the legos caught my attention. I have always been the creative one, and a sculpture oriented one at that. Legos taught me how to put my ideas in to an actual object. Actually, they still are nice for prototyping things that i want to build.

Its really sad that they're having such a hard time dealing with new technology such as all the console systems......channel cable tv, and the like. So in 15 years when all those kids grow up without a way to express creativity.....i think i know where it'll be from. Or maybe (dont mod me down!) its the whole education system finally coming around. At least here in germantown, creativity is beat out of kids. So maybe that explains why kids want simple video games. Don't need creativity because its a bad thing according to schools. Nope don't be individual we're all the same. Ugh.

  6. So whats new.... on MP3.com Sued for 'viral' Copyright Infringement? · · Score: 1

Haven't we learned to expect this? Aside from the fact thay theyre beating a dead horse..... A new lawsuit filed against MP3.com seeks to hold the San Diego music-locker service liable not only for songs it improperly copied and distributed, but also for every bootleg track exchanged through Napster and other underground file-swapping services. Okay, heres what this is saying. The recording industry doesnt care about finding the root of the problem or who really put these mp3s out there, as long as we can get some money and make someone look like the bad guy.

Here's another good one. Dunno if this writer is as stupid as the stuff he writes... . It contends that MP3.com's technology set the stage for widespread music piracy, enabling bootlegged songs to pass from computer to computer faster than you can say ``Oops, I Did It Again.'' Okay, if im not mistaken, file sharing was around before the my mp3 thing? I was already using napster by then......so is this the record companies speaking or the writer? Like i said just placing blame...

So from this story we can gather that all the record companies want is either to A)to place blame B)to take any competition down, and to force independant artists to sign with them or C)make money ........... oh wait.....is it D)all of the above?

  7. Hmm..... on Intrinsity Claims 2.2 Ghz Chip · · Score: 2, Insightful
Hoping this comes to desktops next year....or at least the threat comes to the desktops. Its first products will be designed to control high-speed communications equipment. High speed as in what? Telecom/cable quality? Or professional networking material? (just had to put that there....most people dont read the article. Im usually one of them lol)

IF this does come to desktops.....that is good. More competition = lower prices. But, lots of issues that are still unclear. What kind of packaging will this be in? Will it require a proprietary motherboard? If it does.....well......im sensing that this wont last too long. Intrinsity's test chip achieved faster performance using conventional methods, where other chip makers have generated chips running at 400 to 500 megahertz, or about one-fourth as fast as the Intrinsity chip So whats this supposed to mean? Maybe they should make that clear. Is that saying that any chip over 400 or 500 Mhz uses special manufacturing techniques. Now that would be the majority of chips......so how can that be special then?

Also.....Much of Intrinsity's work has involved making improvements to a fundamental building block for processor chips: the logic circuit. Intrinsity relies heavily on a faster but trickier type of circuit, called dynamic logic, than do conventional processors. Dynamic logic circuits can handle more complex functions with fewer steps than static logic circuits So does this mean specialized applications/OSes? Not worrying about linux....know it will be ported. But if this needs a special OS, and special new (read expensive) applications......think it will go under.

Proves the technology is there, though, which is a good thing

Unless they did something different, should be about able to melt the plastic casing on most laptops.......lot of good the 5 GB does you without a laptop in which to use it in......or without batteries? Should burn through those pretty quickly.......well, just have to get one and try i guess? Nice idea though, and not as clunky as those USB hard drives.
