    Are you sure it is failing? Most of the internet is being concentrated into a few larger providers, carrier grade NAT is making the internet unidirectional, and net neutrality is coming to an end.

    If I remember correctly, some C compiler for the atari does this because the atari call stack is only 128 bytes.

    Roll it gradually as a calling convention through name mangling for compilers that will support it. During transition compile each routine in both calling conventions. This is a bit similar to the old __pascal keyword in MSVC that was meant to support pascal calling convention which was different from C's.

  9. Docker is one program. If I remember correctly, the backend for Facebook chat was written in Erlang, yet no one claims that Facebook is based on Erlang.

    C++, like C, like UNIX, is an amazing achievement with lots of mistakes. Hell, Windows NT managed to replace UNIX to some extent, but nothing really managed to replace C++ and C.

    The C standard doesn't prevent anyone from implementing a calling convention where there's a separate stack for parameters and return addresses. That alone would solve many security problems.

    The only reason why people use social media is because other people use social media. If social media suddently died, there would be a short period after which people adapt. Using social media doesn't somehow automagically lobotomize one, just like video games, d&d, and rock music didn't.
