If Micro$oft writes an OS for the Xbox, will it be called X Windows?

Exactly. One day, when the war is over, the US will notice how much shit the world will be in (mostly because of their own actions) and then probably blame either the previous administration or somebody unrelated. In any case, I'd be running for the hills.

Pick one. It seems like a standard law of nature that you have to take the bad with the good. Me, I'd rather take the spammers and hang the senators (metaphorically speaking). Or make sure the law is unenforcable and therefore safely ignorable.
    Just my ten cents.

Here's my ten cents: I don't think it's terrorism because (and forgive me for being insensitive) a plane is just not big enough a target to be worth smuggling a bomb onto. The terrorists may have a lot of money, but not infinite.

Thousands of people have died recently in the worst terrorist attacks of recorded history, and we're now involved in a war against Islam during the holy month of Ramadan, and you people have the gall to discuss Harry Potter movies? My *god* people, GET SOME PRIORITIES!

We have been discussing the terrorist attacks many many times on /. Just look at the news marked under the 'US' category. I think it's good that we're discussing something different for a change. /. is not just for politics: it is for geeks. Get that through your head.

I feel the same way. They had trading card games for crissakes even before the movie came out! They did the same thing with Pokeamon, too. It's really getting annoying.

that's what the word means in modern english

Well, modern english, like all languages is evolving. Dictionaries take a while to catch up; they shouldn't be taken at face value. Eventually we might see these entries changed.

I've heard this complaint a number of times, and I just want to ask: What other PDAs can be synced on Linux? I know the Palm can, and the Visor (if you buy the seperate serial cable), but can you sync the iPaq or the Yopy?

  11. Re:The wrong starting point? on C with Safety - Cyclone · · Score: 1

You have a point. After all, good programmers should be able to write code in 'unsafe' languages without fault. However, if one is on a project with people who are crappy programmers and has to root through their code to find a bug because they can't handle the raw power C/C++ give them, that would get trying. The solution shouldn't be to restrict the language, but try to work on the people.
