Genetic enhancements can't change who someone is as a person. They can't improve your soul. And, in the end, that's all that matters.
Well, in a fucked up society where everyone is judged by how much money they make and how good they look (in that order), it might make a difference....
Wait a second, I live in such a society... ooops...
Why are technologies developed ? To make money. To maintain or get power. Rarely to actually benefit the human race. We could have lived happily without 99% of the things that we own and that are basically conveninece.
Has anyone seen the Akira Kurasawa's 'Dreams' ? We could also have lived without most of the wars.
People would be so much happy if they lived modestly, in peace and harmony with nature.
Technology is supposed to make our lives easier. Does it? Using computers never saved anyone time for him/herself. It only increased the company's productivity. They had to work the same amount of hours , but now do more stuff. Actually it made the workload heavier.
In the perfect future that I see, humans live in harmony with nature, consuming (and demanding) less, using clean technologies, respecting themselves and their fellows.
The way things are going today is a result of loosing touch with our higher nature and giving in to greed, power hunger, competition.
MODERATION for god's sake, is what we need. Stop being hungry for money! Try to see the big picture. Stop being a robot. Think, feel, outside your pitty self.
But it is important to remember those things that impressed us as children when the original trilogy came out and made us feel like life is wonderful and somwhere outthere there is an adventure waiting for us, that will transform boys into men and dream into reality.
That feeling has nothing to do with Lucas though.
It's all within you. Jut like the force.
I don't think Lucas has ever been a genius of any kind. He exploited mithology motives to create a cartoon. It turned out much better than that and inspired a lot of people, because the symbolism of the movie actually talked more to those who saw the movie than to those who made it.
Remeber, what you felt seing those movies was not Lucas's intetintion. He just wanted to make money and a cartoon. It's been proved with his last episode and the title of the one to come.
So, if you feel disappointed with his last work, you're right, it sucks.
I wish people boycott at least the first 3 days of "Attack of the clowns". that would be soo cool.:)
Or it is just like the normal army, 'Keep shooting, don't think why!'
It's the government's job to make up the reasons for you.
(and yes,I have done military service.)
