it was only once or twice, and I haven't heard anyone else mention about it. Could have been something from a spamming newsletter site or something, which would mean it's sort of not 100% spam, but I don't remember exactly. What I mean is it might have said "You got this message by subscribing to blah.com. To unsubscribe click here" and the link doesn't do anything.
I believe Unreal Tournament 2003 used OGG sound files, as well as Unreal 2: The Awakening. I know there are a few more, but they are smaller projects mainly.
Or, some people just hate the feel of Apple products. I know I do. They feel like they're giving me even less control of what I'm doing than MS does. And at least I can play games on Windows, right?
Does that mean that a book putting you in the place of a serial killer becomes something that is not protected under free speech? Because that sort of book would ve written from the reader's perspective (books like this can be quite good, or quite crap, like any other book) instead of as a third person, meaning that it embodies you pulling off the killing, or whatever. I guess you'd argue that the book is uninteractive and that protects it. But does that mean a game like Final Fantasy, where you really can't change anything that's going to happen is protected? I'm very curious how you feel about this.
I don't know as much of the history of singles as you, thanks for clarifying it. I also agree with you on the price at iTMS, except that I still think I should get a non-lossy copy, or else a very high-quality lossy track (say 260kbps I believe MP3 file) when I pay for music.
Maybe I can impart history on others when I become an Old Man like you (or Old Woman, haven't bothered to look and see if you state your sex). Oh, and I know what vinyl is, I played with them up until CDs came out since that was when I started getting money to buy my own music. I was only talking about the prices of CD singles.
The thing that happened to the single is that for a long time they would include either a crapload of remixed version of the single song(s) or else include some unreleased stuff (that was generally good) along with the single. This all cost $3-5 depending on the extra stuff included.
Then along someone came who decided that a single should be at most 3 songs (including remixes) and that singles should cost a minimum of $5, with the majority being $8. All for 3-4 tracks that might be the best off a $14 album. I might be off on the prices, but those are the prices I saw at the time I stopped buying singles.
IIRC Intel *created* USB; Apple just made it popular. Apple, however, did create Firewire (i.Link, 1394, etc, etc), also making it popular.
Though, with their BSD code base they're following in MS's footsteps. I mean a good amount of MS's code from XP is "borrowed" (both legally and not) from BSD's code base.
OK, let the flames begin!/me pulls on an asbestos suit and puts my head between my legs
dude, what's so bad about that? I mean, dude, it's cool and all. Don't get on his back about it dude. He's just expressing his dudefulness for you dude. So chill dude, and let the other dude ride free.
Hopefully the word dude won't become every other word I say after writing this post dude.
Probably, no matter how right you are, at least in a certain way. I dunno about useless, but everything under the sun is derivative, unless you've been in isolation since you were born with no human contact whatsoever.
That said, derivative works aren't necessarily bad, it just depends on how much they take from other sources.
from what I understand, the Xerox GUI was about the same or better than the first couple Apple GUI efforts. But I haven't used either, haven't used Macs before OS 7.x and haven't used the Xerox GUI at all, so I can't really comment.
That really sucks that they hit you with fines for missing tolls even though you have the pass. In Illinois (at least the Chicago area) if you can prove that you have a pass, and that it's your car (well, you wouldn't be calling if it wasn't yours) they will just deduct the toll amount from your account. At least that's what they used to do, don't know about now.
I'm wondering how long ago this was. Because the way I understand it, GPS is *very* accurate for speed ratings. It's a little less accurate for finding your way to, say, the White House east entrance. But the speed, or, more accurately, velocity, is more accurate.
That said, I haven't used GPS speedos, just talked to people who have. They denied those problems you are talking about; I asked because I had heard about problems like that before.
What cell phone fad? Cell phones are extremely useful.
That said, I believe there is a time and place for using them. Don't use them if it will be annoying or rude to others, and definitely do not use them while driving, especially if using a motorcycle (haven't seen anyone that stupid..... yet).
I thought a HUD was made to be transparent. Stupid me I guess.....
Or maybe you can't see through something transparent.
I fully believe that if you tried it out for a day it would be second nature to you. I could be wrong. But you could also be wrong. We don't know who's wrong til you've tried it, my friend.
If the only thing protecting you is a shirt (no helmet, no ultra-durable jacket, no thick pants and heavy boots) then you deserve what you get if you happen to be in an accident.
Hear hear. I don't personally ride, but I know that a bike can either be a very useful (and very safe) tool, or an ultimate instrument of death when put in the wrong hands. That said, if I had the money, I would probably own a bike, if only for the gas savings.
It's amazing how few people don't know simple science, saying that in real world situations no impact is totally elastic or inelastic, and a part of an object that separates from the whole will not be travelling at the same velocity as the whole object was originally.

I *have* been getting spam about the plastic rectangle that you refer to.
No shit. It seems if you want a job in the US nowadays you need to be a CEO or some shit.
I think he meant other people's DRM that they are trying to force on him with respect to media files.

Maybe you just have access to more pics of Mars than the European space people....

Who cares about the blood? as long as the bouncing tits are there, isn't it all good?

Just wondering, is that VTOL as in the Harrier jet? ;-)

read a little bit
The HUD is made so your eyes will focus on it at about 10 feet out IIRC. That means minimal refocusing of your eyes.
