  1. Makes me think of... on Nanotech: "Smart Fabrics" · · Score: 1

Hehe, just imagine it. 9/10ths of the population in clever-clothes and a virus strikes that makes everyones clothes all simultaneously go see-through. Ok, ok don't tell me you'll didn't think of that.

  2. I always knew... on How to Burn a Magnesium NeXT Cube · · Score: 1

I always knew there was a reason that I spent chemistry classes at school burning various aparatus over a bunsen burner.. it was so I could grow up to follow in the footsteps of such luminaries as The NeXT cube burning man. I imagine he will be at the next burning man festival with his own NeXT cube effigy and a blowtorch... seriously strange.

  3. q4@raven... on Quake 4 Announced · · Score: 2, Interesting

I think it's great that raven are dev'ing q4. They've built themselves a reputation for fine games over the last couple of years but tbh they've really got their work cut out for them on this one. I'm damned suprised that Q4 follows on from q2 and not q1. I was betting on a continuation of quake1 for a long time; I never felt that Quake2 single player worked. It will be interesting to see what it runs like on a good rig as they stand at the moment, with the news that doom3 will run at about 30fps on a geforce 3 I'm wondering how much Raven will use q3's landscaping features that were introduced with q3ta; Damn, I really wanted a continuation of quake. Ah well can't have everything. as John Carmack said a while ago: "There will be no quake4". laterz

  4. Farscapes cool but... on Best Sci Fi Currently On Television? · · Score: 1

But I still dream of Shadow ships. B5 was a golden age of sci-fi for me. Season four is the best season of science-fiction ever portrayed on TV. It just had everything, it was space Opera on the grandest scale possible and stretched my understanding of science fiction and what you could do with it. I got the same feeling from Bestor's 'Tiger Tiger' or Noon's 'Vurt'. Yes, season five blew and the Drak were pathetic, but even at it's worst season five was better than the best episode of White Crusade, which I felt embaressed what B5 had been about. Farscape I have to admit is brilliant TV. Sometimes it just has me cracking up, I mean a little green alien guy in a gimp suit is a sight to behold. Lexx has always rocked, but the latest series (3 i think) is nowhere as entertaining as the previous. They're using a different type of film or speed or something, but it looks like a TV documentery. It was much more fun at the end of series one and beginning of series 2. The mantrid storyline rocked, especially near the end when the hole the dark universe is created. Dont like the latest Zev though. In the latest series you see nudity (as far as I can think) which may seem like a stupid thing to point out but in the first and second series they didn't need to rely on titilation because everything else was just so wyrd.

  5. Jar Jar on George Lucas Wields Light Saber · · Score: 1

Do you think we could collectively take out a court injunction preventing George Lucas from using Jar Jar Binks for the purpose of merchandise, franchise or pivotal plot crux due to the psychic trauma incurred?

  6. Intergration with other P2P's... on Reptile: P2P Content Syndication · · Score: 1

I noticed on the Reptile features page that they want to integrate reptile with P2P networks like freenet, what I was wondering is what's this going to do for the speed of reptile let alone freenet. I've not tried reptile yet but I've sure as hell tried freenet and given up (for the moment) on it, due to the snails pace it crawls along at.
I like the idea of it working as a webserver. nice!
