    This from the guy misquoted in both the article and summary. The author actually asked for his opinion, but then took something from an old interview.

    A Mac is a genuine Unix workstation that is much easier to administer, and has much better software and hardware support than Linux.

    Apart from if you want to run the most popular scripting language.

    What really bothers me is the idea that someone writing a Linux-only program would already have run into situations where they had to conditionally compile code. Has Linux really fragmented that much?

    It's not Linux-only: it's Linux and Win32.

    Well, he speaks Cockney and Swahili, so other English speakers should have no problem understanding him.

    Well that may be the case but in this case the criticism doesn't really seem deserved. For better or worse /. generally posts exactly what was written by the person who submitted the article. Blame that person for trying to "soften" the blow.

    But it was timothy who felt the need to point out who vendor A was, but not vendor B.
