Are you kidding? I got ripped off by CompUSA trying to charge me a restocking fee for a DOA router and I walked two blocks over to Central Computer and never set foot in CompUSA again. http://www.centralcomputers.com/
And I can quite believe that the police she was raided by are 'thugs';ask that guy they shot eight times in the head a while back if that's a good description... oops, you can't, he's dead.
Being shot in the head, while regrettable, does not necessarily acquit someone of being a thug.
I wonder about the investors who will now lose pretty well everything they banked on the crapshoot.
Don't feel too badly for the investors. Last I looked they consisted largely of insiders and speculators. This isn't an Enron that took people's retirement savings through underhanded machinations.
And they deserve it. A lawsuit against a large corporation (or several corporations as in this case) can take years to adjudicate before anyone, including the lawyers, sees any money. There is also no guarantee going in that you will win so these lawyers can spend tens of thousands of hours of work for nothing. When was the last time you did any work with the possibility of not getting paid?
Looking at an ESX server, you'll find what looks like a Linux OS. This isn't a secret - VMware call this the 'console OS'. Is ESX server based on Linux?
I've never run ESX but I'd like to know what Linux 'looks' like. Most people who see a shell confuse it with the operating system. A bash shell looks pretty much the same on Solaris, Linux, BSD, Cygwin, etc.
That's the whole reason US money is worth something, because the government guarantees they will accept it in payment of taxes.
Well, that's *A* reason but not "the whole reason". The US dollar is unique amongst currencies as it is close to being a global currency. It is accepted in nearly every country and some countries even use it as their own official currency rather than print their own. People accept it as having value because the know it will retain value in the future making it the world's foremost reserve currency.
I think the real problem is that people don't know how to interview to find talented programmers. The best predictor of future performance is past behavior. 90% of an interview should be about past projects or academic work. Instead many people seem to have this weird notion that asking how many socks you need to pull from a drawer to get a matching pair gives insight into an engineer's talent.
Exactly. Any judge worth his salt is going to see what's going on here, know that she's not some pirate, and give her nothing.
That's a nice theory and in a civilized society it would be true. However, the radical right-wing is very vocal about judges coming to sensible rulings and so the judiciary is very cautious about appearing to be "soft on crime". All those diatribes you keep hearing about "activist judges" are influencing justice and not in a good way.
No wonder you can't get any tech support. If you insist on arguing over the placement of the clock on the desktop, you're never going to get anywhere. Next time, just tell them what damn time it is and move on.
But I can say, with absolute certainty, that when trade media outlets like InfoWorld disappear you will all be sorry.
I can't imagine why. I'm certain I can find regurgitated press releases on my own without Infoworld's help in binding them together in magazine format.
I think you will find that many, many "red state people" are more avid supporters of protections for the environment than many "blue state people" who generally reside in cities.
Voting patterns would indicate otherwise. Do you have any data to back this claim up?
There's no love lost for insurance companies from me, but I'd much rather they too have free speech, even if it means "spinning" things their way, than to start censoring anyone who disagree with Michael Moore.
It's not "free" speech. They're paying for it. You and I are effectively shut out from countering their paid-for propaganda.

Just think - Oliver Wendell Douglass would have never had to move to Hooterville if he'd had this.
You voted in favor of the Iraq war. If you can be mislead by a bungling fool like George Bush, how can we trust you as President to deal with world leaders who are actually intelligent?
80% of this has gone to Unspam, the for-profit registry operator; Utah's share of the registry's revenues has been a paltry $37,445. Worse, Utah has spent $100,000 (so far) to defend the private company from legal challenges by free-speech, advertising, and porn interests."
Conservatives would have us believe that privatization is the solution to all problems. It seems that it's really only a solution to the problem of falling profits.
In a list of files, etc, Perl 5.10 will come between 5.1 and 5.2, which makes no sense at all.
You do understand that this is Perl we're talking about, right?

Yes, it's amazing the things you can afford when you're not paying for another war every few years.
Oh I cant help it! This reminds me too much if Monty Python's Argument Clinic
No it doesn't.

What were you reading? I saw quite a few facts in the post - more than enough to make a judgment.
crackpot (krk'pt') n. An eccentric person, especially one with bizarre ideas.
Seems OK to me.
It's not part of 'Homeland Security' so Republicans will scream about "tax and spend" liberals.
It'll never happen.
The lawyers get all the millions left over.

Actually the market has been around a lot longer than socialist schools and firehouses.
OK, you got me there. How's that bartering for seashells working out for ya ?
Object leaks? You really don't have any idea what you're talking about do you?
Taxation in general is an inefficient allocation of resources with significant deadweight losses.
That's a load of Republican propaganda (i.e. bullshit). Taxes build the infrastructure (roads, schools, firehouses) that allow the markets to exist.

Having been a java developer for nearly a decade I never knew there was a Java cult. I wonder if I am a member unbeknownst to myself?
