Well, they're not too cool when they attack important bodily tissues. Autoimmune diseases are not our friend.

I'm curious about this. Does anyone have a link to any info about this? That Google link doesn't turn up anything, nor does Google's suggestion of Preventive Arrest. But maybe they're blocking us Yanks from getting the real story.

    Yeah, hurray for mob rule.

I thought that we weren't a pure democracy so that the majority wouldn't be able to stomp on the minority. Oh well.

But how? I know it's been said before, that the terrorists acted normally up until the moment of the terror. Think about it. I really doubt they were on AIM telling their buddies about what they were going to do. If anything, they were /acquiring/ information. Does this mean that if I read an article about lax airline security, do a google for cheap boxcutters, and then book a flight, I'm going to be a suspect, even though I have never transmitted any anti-US information? That I could be searched, arrested, charged just for taking in too much info?

I disagree. I do not think The Government has any obligation to, nor would I want them to, attempt to stop Bad Things from happening to me, except that the threat of punishment might be a deterrent. If I get into a flamewar with someone, I don't want Big Brother to come and detain him just in case he might decide to come to my house and stab me, for a very bad and hastily thrown together example. If Mr. Flamer /does/ come stab me, and my husband sees him stab me, and several neighbors who really don't care all that much see Mr. Flamer stab me, then The Government can step in and take care of him. If you let it go beyond that, you'll create thoughtcrimes. (Hell, and we already have those, don't we?)

Grew out of the wild west? I would say that it grew out of the get-rich-quick-ness of the Industrial Revolution, all the poor immigrant-turned-factory owner scenarios. Everyone wants to be JD Rockefeller, not Jesse James.

    Just my opinion, mind you.

Right, and those 30,000 would just be killed instead by stabbing, poisoning, dropping a piano on their heads, etc.

If I wanted to kill someone, I'd probably use a gun because they're convenient. If there was no gun convenient, I'd get more creative. Such an old argument. Probably not even worth my time to type it. (But I did anyway. Heh.)

And exactly what did Bush do that was even remotely racist?
