  1. Can you count? on GIMP 10th Anniversary Splash Contest Winner Announced · · Score: 2

)1) The original XCF file has TWENTY SEVEN layers, a few of which are way, way bigger than the canvas. Twenty seven layers at 300dpi at TWICE the target image scale [last step was to scale down from 600x580 to the requested/suggested output scale of 300x290] is pretty ruttin' good if you ask me.

)2) The GIMP works. Perhaps it doesn't work the way you like, but it does work.

)3) And in response to the rest of everyone's warm, friendly, supportive, wholly typical slashdot slashcommentary: Honestly? I agree about the text at the top. I wasn't happy with it when I posted it, and I'm still not happy with it now. But the devs/judges were/are. And my skin != thin, so snark on, brothars and sistahmates. Snark on.

It is interesting to note that there are more complaints here on /. than there were submissions for the contest. Next time, everybody look busy!

)4) Lastly, I see that I have had an http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=172515&cid=143 66132offer for a love child. And here I thought there wasn't to be any http://www.redriderleglamps.com/Major Award beyond infamy and notoriety!

  2. goose-stepping nazis! on LokiTorrent Shut Down · · Score: 1

Those ass-gas-guzzling, cock-gobbling, goose-stepping Nazis!!! I was using loki to share my albums! MY albums - the work of my own brain - not someone else's "copyrighted work"... So, it seems when they say:

"There are websites that provide legal downloads. This is not one of them."

...they are FULL OF SHIT! Being that I AM THE LEGAL OWNER OF THE WORK, DISTRIBUTION OF WHICH THEY HAVE JUST INTERRUPTED!!!!

Yes, allcaps, because I am SICK of these jackasses.

Feeling a little Cornholio right now. Furious!
  3. Re:impossible - caught when stupid only on "Dark Alleys" on the Internet · · Score: 1

Only the stupid, and therefore those deserving to be collared, will drop into their favourite AOL chatroom, and say,

"Greetings! Somebody set up us the bomb! Today we launch all nukes, to destroy Amerika, for great justice! Come die with me in glory!"

I am guessing, and just guessing, lay-dees and gentlytypes, that the conversation of the crafty will go more like,

    EvilDoer no.1: "Yo!"
    EvilDoer no.2: "Wassap!"
EvilDoer no.1: "Yo! I just went out with your cousin's roommate!"
    EvilDoer no.2: "Awesome!"
EvilDoer no.1: "Yo! She is slammin' hot!"
EvilDoer no.2: "Yeah, I'm going out with her cousin next week. I'm taking her to visit the museum on Pennsylvania Avenue at 4:20 p.m."
EvilDoer no.1: "Sweet! Maybe we can hook up there?"
EvilDoer no.2: "Right on, bro! Far out!"

And how exactly is that going to get flagged for review? Ain't no encryption better than a good set of noodle maps.

    Just hazarding a guess.

  4. Re:More than 666? on GIMP 2.2 Splash Screen Contest Revisited · · Score: 1

While all the usual radioactive slashdot fallout is as entertaining as ever, the real reason "more than 666" was written that way is for the following mundane reason:

The last page of the GimpSplash v2.2 gallery contest is hyperlinked thus:

http://www.gimp.org/contest/gallery.cgi?display= GA LLERY&index=666 [Slashdot, unbreak my link!]

    This translates to:

"Please do transmit to my fine browser a carefully crafted page which contains nine splash contest entries up to number 666."

    And that's it.

And that's my tacit correction as well. It's not "more than 666 entries". It IS 666 entries. Also verifiable by visiting the voting page.

    The end.

  5. For Great Different? on Michael Moore Seeks TV Airing of Fahrenheit 9/11 · · Score: 2, Insightful

"... one has to wonder whether airing such a controvercial movie on the eve of an election helps or hurts the political process by influencing the vote with last-minute emotions rather than thoroughly contemplation."

Riiiigght, since it's so different from all the rational, fact-based and totally truthful informercials paid for by each of the wholly respectful campaigning parties...

Do you mean to infer that Senor Moore should be barred from showing his "emotion-influencing" film because he isn't a political candidate himself? And how is this any different from the plethora of other instances wherein Hollywood has poked its bulbous nose into election issues?

All the hullaballoo over this film is merely the result of carefully crafted propaganda. The man is entitled to his opinion. The People are entitled to watch it or ignore it, at their choosing.

I, for one, think he's full of himself. But he has the right to display his film to whomever wishes to see it, without interference from our reigning king or the apparent challenger to the throne [whether or no the two "front runners" will in the end be any different from one another in practical application of the office remains to be seen].

  6. scamification of scammers by proxy? on 419ers Diversify Into Assassination Threats? · · Score: 1

I place my wager that this is a spoof, intended to draw heat down on these gnatwits that have hitherto escaped consequence for their spamiferous actions. And well done, and applause, and best wishes for great incarceration.

Out with 419eaters, in with 419killaz! Huzzah!
