  1. Re:Certain oft-posted illegal number? on Congress Asks Universities To Curb Piracy · · Score: 1

Why is this modded offtopic? It seems to refer to the posting: "... there are currently over two million hits on Google for a certain oft-posted illegal number, up from the three hundred thousand hits from sometime yesterday." I was wondering the same thing.

  2. Publicity Stunt on Artist Suggesting Ways Around Copy Protection · · Score: 0, Flamebait

If sharing the music was such a big deal, why not just post everything as mp3s? Giving away publicly known information on bypassing copyright protection gives the band more publicity and probably won't increase the amount of avaliable media considering the rampant piracy already occuring.

  5. Got hardware problems? on Tech Support Getting Even Worse · · Score: 1

I don't use that much tech support but I know it's been going bad for a while. Two years ago my aunt bought a shiny new compaq presario something or other and within a week the keyboard began to malfunction. She called the helpline, as most common consumers do. After unpluging and pluging the keyboard, rebooting the computer, and other unsucessful steps, the following conversation ensued:

Tech Support: Now, listen very carefully...

    Aunt: Ok.

Tech Support: Is your keyboard on a hard surface, like a desk or table?

Aunt: Yes, it's on my desk.

Tech Support: Good, now I would like you to pick up your keyboard and hold it four inches above your desk making sure to keep it parallel the surface of your desk.

    Aunt: Ok.

    Tech Support: Drop it.

    Aunt: Ok. (crash in background)

Tech Support: Does your keyboard function?

Aunt: No, it's still not working.

Tech Support: Ok...again, raise your keyboard four inches above your desk but tilt it at 45 degrees to the right.

    Aunt: Ok.

Tech Support: Drop it. Ma'am, does your keyboard function now.

Aunt: Yes! it does, thank you very much.

Well at least they knew how to fix it...

Orcs are terrorists: they burn and pillage the homes innocent peasants who can do nothing except run from thier mighty wrath. Their existence causes the destruction of human civilization. As a company harboring such terrorist ideas Blizzard has been ordered to either remove Orcs from Warcraft III or face charges of treason...

  7. Re:Well seriously what were you expecting? on Review: Blade II - Electric Boogaloo · · Score: 1

Agreed. No one should expect complex characters, accurate science, or insight on to the human condition from any Hollywood-produced action flicks nowadays. Cheesy names and lack of plot are too keep you awake until the next action scene. Hey, the director did have some sense of humor though, for those of you who have seen Blade II or plan to, take care to notice three letters amongst the array of martial arts in the fight scenes: W-W-F

Ah...in a way all is pointless, but please be truthful, did this seem pointlessly humorous to you in the slightest way? I found it hilarious that someone would waste their time doing something like this and thus it brought mirth to the world and lost its pointlessness.
