    The premium is not that small. The cheapest HGST is 21% more expensive than the cheapest Seagate I could find (4TB capacity)

    And like cars, you'll be loosing more money if you lease. Keeping a car for 10+ years saves a lot of money compared to leasing a new one every 4 years. And both of them will get you from point A to point B.

    If you can't afford a $1000 phone outright, you can't afford a $1000 phone, period. No matter how you finance/lease it.
    Sane personal/family financial planning should allow you to save in order to be able to afford that phone, or simply choose a less expensive phone to begin with.

    and yet, they continue buying far more Seagate than anything else.
    The reason is that they are cheaper, and it's not worth it to pay a premium for other brands.

    On amazon.ca, 4TB Seagate is $140, Western Digital is $157.

    For external (don't understand why, but it's cheaper) 8TB, Seagate is $235 and Western is $280

    Wrong. Users are the target. The most popular applications are free and are made by companies such as Google and Facebook.

    You have to realize there isn't a single "app market" but there are various markets for different needs. Those wanting a GPS navigation software won't cross-shop with $2 games.

    $2 game developers will most likely target the platform with the most idiots buying their $2 crappy games, I agree. But that won't drive away other developers making useful stuff from Android. They'll remain because yes, Android has more users and the difference is widening every year.

    It doesn't have to be Netflix that collect the taxes. It could also be the credit card companies. It's still a loophole if Netflix can compete against a Canadian company by offering the same product cheaper only because one has to charge taxes and the other one doesn't.

    Just because you can divide Europe into Western, Southern, Eastern and Northern Europe doesn't mean you have to call the continent "The Europes". There are various theories on the number of continents, and many people consider America to be a single continent. And event if it isn't, the word can still refer to a group of continents without having to be plural.

    It's not too late, most people don't have one.
    However Samsung just can't make software. Their phones are great, but every single piece of Samsung (not Android) software is total crap and/or redundant. I don't see why it would be any different this time.

    I know an OS is never "done", but I stopped caring about new features from Android updates long ago. It seems it's already doing everything I need it to do, and new features are either marginal improvements or features I just won't use.

    You missed the point of that train. The point is NOT taking a cab. It is connected to the subway network, which allows you to go anywhere in the city. Cabs are much more expensive and can be stuck in traffic.

    Because it's a tax loophole that should be closed, because it isn't fair. The tax code was created long before the Internet. Back then, it was not possible to "sell" a product or service from abroad without passing through customs.
    How can a local company compete against Netflix if it has to collect 15% tax when Netflix doesn't?

    Also, it gives 0 incensitive to Netflix to open a physical presence in Canada, since the second they do that, they'd have to collect taxes. Unless they use another loophole through a Luxembourgh subsidory, but that's another story.

    But Netflix should pay/charge all taxes such as GST, PST/HST in Canada just like cable companies, groceries stores and every body else.

    What is so hard to understand? If I am close to my PC, I want to reply from my PC. If I am not, I may want to be able to reply from my phone as a backup.

    In order to send messages between those times when you "sit in front of a big display and keyboard". Or do you have a laptop on your person everywhere you go?

    Since when do you need a laptop to read messages received over the Internet, such as emails and instant messages? A smartphone can do it just fine.

    Sending SMS and forcing people to reply from a phone is rude.

    Is it also rude for someone to have an IM waiting for him but not read it nor reply to it because he subscribes to SMS but not cellular data and is away from home, work, or a public hotspot?

    No, it isn't. Just like it isn't rude to send an email to such a person.
    Also that person can use an email to SMS gateway if he/she wants to read messages on the go.

    The point is not whether someone carries a phone or not.
    Why would I type on a small phone when I sit in front of a big display and keyboard? An Internet-connected PC which is much more convenient to reply? Sending SMS and forcing people to reply from a phone is rude.

    At the moment, I stick to SMS because that lets me send a message to someone without caring about what app they happen to have installed. Everyone can receive an SMS.

    Wrong, since you need a cellular radio (or some other SMS gateways) and a phone number to receive SMS. You can't receive an SMS on a regular PC.

    I couldn't disagree more.
    I've never heard someone replacing a laptop because the plastic case was damaged. I've heard one or two people rolling over their laptop with their car (duh!), but a metal case would have been of no help. People replace their laptop because they are too slow/old, or because electronic components break. Not because of cracked plastic bodies.
    The unibody metal case is all about look. It brings no added benefit, especially not durability. But a plastic case is more likely to protect the internal components in case of a drop than a metal one.

    Most people don't get that Netflix's goal is to become a monopoly. Once they have all the content and all the users, they will raise prices probably to the same level as cable companies.
