They could only redeem themselves by revoking the standard. There would be no damage because there are no products that follows it, not even MS' own Office. (Office 2010 produces files that follow the ITU version of the Docx format.)
you either do not write codecs or you do not expect to be caught writing a H.264 codec.
MPEG-LA is the patent troll/layer firm that wants to collect $ for Software Patents on mathematical equations that compresses bits of information that happens to be a video. If it can scare/threaten/sue people into buying a license to create/use/distribute a H.264 codec then they will have accomplish their goal.
This WebM patent pool is a FUD tactic similar to MS' patents on Linux. You are free to create a WebM codec as much as you are free to write a Linux derivative. not so with H.264.
That's what contracts are for. If the phone is subsidized by the phone company and you lose/trash your (theirs, really) phone, you are still on the hook for the 3 year contract, regardless of what you do. The lock-down is moot.
I looked them up. $300 and total overkill. If Kanguru can do it without bulk or a External power supply, isn't there something about the size of a USB stick that can do the same?
USB sticks with "physical read-write switch" don't exactly grow on trees. As far as I know only Kanguru and Imation(aka 3M) make them and Imation's USB Sticks are slow. Kanguru Sticks are hard to come by.
Is there such a thing as an inline USB write protect switch?
As a firebug teenager, I was considering finding a Fresnel lens and focusing the beam on to a biconcave
In theory the biconcave lens would straighten out the converged beam straight again but now concentrated! Alas at the time these Fresnel lens were only found in Overhead projectors. I couldn't find them for cheap and then I grew up.
Today Fresnel lenses are found is unwanted Projection TVs and are MUCH bigger. And you can shop for good quality biconcave lens that wont melt easily on the internet. Today I have no time or room to build such a thing. My wife would kill me!
It *IS* a key feature built into Windows to drive sales!
I have a 5year-old installation of XP-home-Ed. (Compaq Presario ???? laptop) -We use FF, not IE -have little software on it -HD is 80% free and de-fragmented, temp folder is MT -Runs 99% of the time with User Account -Takes 5 minutes to get to the internet from boot XP Sucks
Thinking Linux but laptop needs drivers to make volume buttons work!
Here in Canada and the states, taxpayers provided the right of way for the wires and paid for most of the "last mile" lines to the homes. Now the ISPs, that are also cable/phone/content providers, want control everything. The REAL solution is: 1-not to have Content and Delivery be owned by the same company 2-the home owner or the City/Tounship/county own the "last mile" connection. In fact I recommend the home owner own the "last mile" connection because government is likely to be bought sooner or later.
Mark my words. Once they get rid of the old competition (e.i TV) you'll get: -Gobs of commercials. -demands for your personal info BEFORE you get to watch anything -Demand proof that you are from where you are -Etc.
Only now they read the fine print in the deal they made with MS regarding the SUSE Linux vouchers?
I'm shocked!
[Robots] are nothing [like] mammals.
So lets do like they do on the [robotic] channel.
If it weeds out all the stupid people so that plastic bags no longer need a "This is not a toy - Choking hazard" disclaimer, I'm all for it.
OT: ISO has no respect in my eyes.

The MAFIAA's description of copyright infringement (aka pirating) is just DL'ing a the file to your hard drive.
If you leave it there ==> Gotcha!
So anything beyond that is just more sins after the original.
Note to self: Mod-up parent when I get mod points.
And the judges will live in Texas, the IP wonderland of the USA.

This is why I don't want a smart phone.
If I could get a Data plan that didn't cost much if I didn't use it much, maybe.
Currently I pay $20/mo for 200 minutes + VM + CID (no text or data)
Most/All Phone Sharks* in Canada will not offer data service without a contract.
*Phone Sharks: Hey, it fits. A loan shark has punitive service charges. So do Phone companies. The CRTC Mob boss skims off the top with taxes.
I thought it was just me.
The old icon was at least a bit menacing. This one just looks silly.

... why doing the exact same thing to the black sony box setting next to my tv isn't legal, I'll never understand.
Because the MAFIAA pays waaayyy better.

But creating add-ons for Firefox is cool so they have to do it to look hip.
(I think I'm repeating myself.)
I wish they would create a mashup of Idiocracy and 1984.
Oh wait, I'm living in it.
And where are those funds going to? Pork?
But "open source" is a cool buzzword. He has to use it to look hip.
According to this Hydrogen in the atmosphere would put holes in the Ozone layer, just like CFCs.
The US Patent Office get its funding from patent applications fees.
So the question is: WHAT THE #UcK DID YOU EXPECT!
FF 3.6.8 gets 139 + 4 bonus points out of possible 300
IE 7.0.5730 gets 12
