    Back when AutoIt was at v2.x it was GPL
    Then the developer started to see Commercial forks of their code under different licenses and for pay!

    Son with version 3.0, they closed the source but still offer the compiled EXEs for free.

    BTW: If you start having 2 codebases where:
    -one is Free Open source (GPL)
    -Other you need to *pay* for the EXEs (non-GPL)
    Wouldn't this mean that user-contributions would have to be dual licensed?
    Otherwise, MySQL cannot include GPL code into its for pay close source.

    Car mechanics get their friends to pay them to fix their cars.
    If the car mechanics tell their friends: "stop speeding over speed-bumps", would the friends listen?
    You bet! it cost them money!

    Novell tried to do something like this, too.
    Back when Novell's wallet was a big as their head they bought out UNIX (yes, the REAL code), told everybody that they wanted to merge NetWare and Unix together and have ONE OS code-named: Gemini. (http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qa3649/is_1 99507/ai_n8727330)

    The announcement angered Netware and Unix people alike, Both vowing to not learn the other stuff. Novell saved face by calling the thing "UnixWare" and limiting the scope of the OS merger.

    RE: If they hadn't started messing the design, I would still recommend the WRT54G and WRT54GS. The VxWorks routers have been mediocre at best.

    That explains few things.
    Slow and unstable connections even 2 ft away from my WRT54GS.

    I'm talking when a company buy a PC and has a corporate version of Windows XP (no activation req'd)
    That means MS gets:
    -one license for the PC leaving the store/reseller
      and
    -one when the company buys a corporate license for that PC.

    Therefore MS get a 2-for-1 deal, everytime!

    You must be new here or forgot your tag.

    MS wants to keep control (aka Vendor Lock In)
    Think of MS as the RIAA of spreadsheets and memos.
    If ODF becomes the defacto standard, MS looses control and everybody can get of the MS office upgrade treadmill.
