Yes, and they didn't even submit those ZD benchmakrs to ZD ie. they're not even certified!

  2. Moof? on Typical Misinterpretation Of "Hacker" · · Score: 1

I use 'moof' as an exclamation word. Not that it really means anything - it's a nonsense word. It is a stupid, but amusing, word that gets used on random aoccasions. And talking of stupid but amusing, that Kipling web site....

  3. So much for the universal constant. on Light Traveling at 38 Miles an Hour · · Score: 1

No, the actual wave packets, or photons, that carry the light are still travelling at 298,000 km/s (or whatever exact figure it is) it is just that they're being absorbed and reabsorbed. When a beam of light containing billions of these photons enters the condensate the condensate will absorb them and the atoms which then are excited by absorbing these photons re-emit them after a certain time.
It isn't that difficult to comprehend unless you try and understand how they are abosrbed and re-emitted. THen it gets trickier to explain in normal words. :-)

Looks like someone else needs to use 'Preview' ;-)

  5. Freshmeat or Deadmeat ? on A Bit About Freshmeat · · Score: 1

Notice the advertising? Of course you do. Show me the advertising on Freshmeat.
I certainly didn't cite only Slashdot (despite my example-making) so my point still stands I reckon.
of course there are plenty of others who run sites for free that aren't necessarily to do with this sort of thing and they spend lot of time on them too.

  6. What would happen if... on Linux 2.2.0-pre3 is available · · Score: 1

Linux might fall into trouble, but rest assured there would be others. It won't happen, of course, because of the love of the job people have.

  7. Freshmeat or Deadmeat ? on A Bit About Freshmeat · · Score: 1

Lots of assertions, but as yet not a clue in sight. Go ahead and provide the same service as Freshmeat. You won't because you don't have the time. Freshmeat is not one man's FTP space, it's more sophisticated than that.
You assume that money pours into places like that, which is clearly barking mad. Notice how people like CT have other things to do like college? Maybe it is cos they DON'T make enough money to support themselves on the back of their web site and they need to get a job, hence a college degree, in order to live? You'll notice that there are no adverts on Freshmeat too.

You'll notice Scoop never mentioned anyone other than flamers in his litle message, nor did he starve us of Freshmeat for more than a few minutes. If you're sensitive enough to feel so insulted by his actions then there is something severely wrong with you.
Or did you actually do something worth insulting, like flame the new design?
Either way you do aren't making yourself look very clever.
