    There is no monopolies on wireless in Europe. In fact, in most country, that's the first part of the telecom industry that got freed from government monopoly. In France alone we have 3 GSM providers, and going to have a dozen wireless loop operators.

    Starcraft as a solo game is crap. I mean, it's not even worth mentioning. HOWEVER, as a networked game, it's probably one of the best available today. It's *perfectly* balanced, it's fast paced yet requires strategy, and after having played for a few years you still wonder how some people are so much better than you (no, it's not trainer they don't help *that* much).

    You can discuss at length analogies (I love those ...) between speech and singing and T-shirts and protected speech ... However, the really funny part of this is .. what's the exact wording in the DMCA? What is *exactly* forbidden? A "device ... used to circumvent"? Now, someone's got to tell me how a t-shirt, a photograph of the code, a GIF file with the code embedded in it or whatever you can think of is a fucking "device" which has no other commercial purpose than circumventing a fucking copy protection scheme? It's not even a "device", it can't be used to circumvent anything, it's just a fucking T-Shirt / photo / gif.

    (Now I'd like to see that subpoena, is it a real one or just a publicity stunt?)

    Ah ah indeed, you're so right. You know what would be the only way for them to actually ENFORCE their secure bullshit? That would be to make the songs playable only closed, proprietary devices ... that means no PC playback. Hey, remember how DVD was cracked, back in the days (oups, that was last year). So in their little dream land, those guys are fantasizing about a secure digital future where everybody will be nice and play their little Britney Spears songs on the little secure device. A bit like the Chinese version of the Internet.

    Huh? What? But it says.... Nope, it says that Congress shall not abridge the freedom of speech. This doesn't say "You have the right to free speech", it says Congress shall not abridge whatever rights and privileges to free speech you may have

    Huh? What? Are you stoopid or sumthin? Ok, I'll spell it out for you: there is nothing that give copyright holders "rights" ... nothing but laws written by the congress, which "shall not ..."

    Is that simple enough for you?

    My point is, you *should* know what Slashdot's editorial line is, it's not like it's a surprise it's been the same for years now. So don't act like a spooked virgin, keep in mind the fact that Slashdot is pro-free software and against the IP industry, and adjust as needed.

    I just read this in Scientific American: after the conquistadors colonized Florida, and converted/enslaved local indians, said indians started suffering from various nutrition problems caused by their forced change of diet, from a mostly proteinic diet (hunting, sea products) to a vegetarian diet (mostly corn). In particular, their ancestors used to have fairly good teeth, but they started having rotten teeth because they would'nt eat meat that would counteract bacterias in their mouth.
