The problem with this is the weight of the batteries. In order to keep the weight somewhat equivalent to gas cars and the same endurance "per charge", they made hybrids.
A battery-only car to power 75hp would need, quite literraly, a shit load of batteried to have a 50miles radios.
Ford had a limited production (for fleets only) electric Ranger. Don't quote me on this, but I think it only had a 60miles autonomy with an incredible motor/inverter. . .
Actually they put the "hub motor" on the wheel to increase efficiency. If they had to put an electric motor inside and then connect it via a transmission somehow, the mechanical losses would suck up too much battery juice, don't ask me percentages 'cause I don't know on the mechanical side. Keep in mind that these hub motors are 95+% efficient, with regen able to restore about 10% of the energy.

Floppies are good for installing things via the network on old machine with crappy cd drives; but I guess bootable cds would work to...oh well Since we have our local "mirror", net installs are much quicker.
Call me useless. But just for fun myself and some engineering buddies are going to make a mini-cluster (5 nodes) of Zaurus.
Since I'm into the Linux PDA thing, here is my wishlist: 1) easy instalation for not technically inclined people - they exist so I have to support them, otherwise I would not care... 2) Wireless syncing!!!! Saving lots of time. 3) Universal recharging unit for all PDA (kinda utopic, but again, this is a wish list). By doing so we could have a couple at work, one in each bedroom...blahblahblah 4) Protective screens (don't know the 'official name') that don't suck. 5) MUCH longer battery life 6) Lots of memory....yeah redundant, so what?:)
Well, I tried... - called the boss saying I had to go to the doc - got the Jedi outfit - went to the movies looking like a retard - tickets sold-out five guys in front of me in line. - went back home and contenplated suicide - girlfriend came over and felt kinda hot for the jedi outfit
In his speech he mentions that ripping also has to be stopped because it's criminal... I might be wrong, but isn't ripping legal? Just the sharing with commertial intent is illegal right? Can someone say: This is legal:..... This is illegal:....
I got in by accident when the administrator for the "linux segment" at the (small)college suddently quit. Since I had been playing with linux at home for 2 months or so, I volunteered for the "temporary task" while they looked for a senior admin to take over, but they were too cheap to hire some full time person.
More than one year passed, I tranfered schools, now my little brother has the job and I have another sysadmin position in a different place.
What's up with this old junk fettish people have? Those things take a lot of space and serve no useful purpose. Unless you are going to sell tickets for an event such as: "The flying cray-1", why do people care?
Try the Compaq presario 1700 or 1800T, I have an 1800T and it took me about 15 minutes to set it up using RH 7.1...no need to find any obscure "drivers" anywhere
Of course, extra twicking demands extra time.
Later!

When the heck are they going to comeup with cell-phone modules for the Zaurus?
I'm getting tired of carrying both and a "unification" is past due.
enough ranting...later!

If someone gives me (at work) a machine that already has all software installed, hence I didn't read any EULAs, does it mean that I "agree" with them?
I'm a sysadmin and we use linux...I'm just curious.
"Self appointed *Pope*" huh?
Sounds like he will be "praying" on young developers; cover your asses!

I think only my job's server room is messier than the table in the pictures.

There is quite a bit of info at http://more.sbc.co.jp/slj/docandtool.asp
It's mostly about the dev. version of zaurus, but I think it applies to others. enjoy

If hard-lines are broken, pull out your cell-phone, laptop, adapters...and dial away.
They is always a way around, you just have to antecipate it.
