"News" sites that use google adsense don't hold much cred in my eyes. It leaves the academia-style philosophy of knowledge acquisition and goes to buzz word bingo style eye-ball reporting.
Could the editors use their influence in a way to make more valuable and valid stories easily accessible for the open source crowd. All the time wasted on meaningless jibberish slows us down as a whole. We're only given 24 hours in a day, and I'd like to get out and about as much as possible.
Yep. Basically, it'll be 2 networks. 1 which will run on windows and will be under attack from all sorts of malicious users and code. The only thing that will be secure from these things will be an open source virtual link to the second network card. What is then attached to this network is all your private gizmos.
in effect, a huge network of all the bad stuff in the world is attacking each other so that machine fights machine whilst us humans can use the net for what we need. the simple stuff.
warfare has gone virtual (as well as corporate). no more blood on the battle field
grew up with the b.s. that claimed a lot of the IT industry including all the plumbers turning into sys admins -> not that there's anything wrong with that.
You've got 20-somethings that have experience in the industry and are very articulate. Lots of startups around that use OSS cos things are turning to service and support. We don't wanna be greedy egotistical millionbilliontrillionaires like the power industry (a la Enron people - i just watched that movie), we wanna make a living using things we love and also have time to do our other passions in life - usually music and other arts because like i said before, we are articulate (read: learned) people. Always exploring.
Let us just do what we do best and get jobs done. By working together we get to critical mass with less casualties.
You can't tell me that "they" haven't worked out how to put tera-upon-tera bytes of audio/visual information onto a type of media. There's been optical media for decades , holographic media research for some time (used to always read about it in the IT section of newspapers when the boom was on), and a fk_load of patents owned by big corporations that fund research - in private and public institutions. Much like the petrol engine development, this whole stalling towards a standard has probably happened because both companies must go through with it because they've put too much work into it whilst at the same time they've got 3d holograph actors performing in your lounge room. But before they give you this, you'll need to buy 10 years worth of HD stuff so that the menu driven sequences can look really bright in your condo overlooking the bright day whilst the real work is done by some sweat shop in a developing country.
We're all born kings and queens so just give us everything so that we don't have to be the sweat shop workers whilst we're still young and mobile and agile.
After reading todays articles on/. I realised something. Win2K is still used by a large number of businesses and MS is discontinuing support. This is a "large" number of businesses that use Win2K on the desktop that may soon be looking for an upgrade path.
Instead of every linux advocate or anti-monopolistic advocate focussing on linux at the new user, or new PC vendor level - maybe it's time to start consulting with a product that can replace Win2k.
The click n feel and location of applications is fading somewhat because a lot of our work can be done within a browser window. Ordering, Reporting, Emailing what-have-you.
You fill in the blanks -
Now with Apple riding on intel chips in the future, it opens up the market considerably. It's open standards time possibly to really kick in. Giving every consumer, organisational or individual real choice.
The mandriva company is moving - it's trying something - people knocking their name from within the community they have helped build is just something that should not happen. There is a plan that is being formulated in some room in their offices that is saying - in 12 months time we want to have a product that looks like this, works like this, integrates with this et cetera. Whether it be 3 6 or 12 months time they have a plan - possibly to co-incide with their biggest competitors upgrade drive.
In the mean time, I'm working to improve my credentials to be a leader in the next change in IT in my city.
cos Lucas went back and edited the original scores when the technology became available cos it was unfinished when it was released...which wasn't his fault..he was ahead of his time...... AS FOR GATES......what a joke:P
i've watched the first 3 about 26times each.. mainly for fun, sometimes for boredom, then it becomes fun, then for drinking to with friends, so that becomes fun....so basically i watch it for fun...mind you.... i haven't watched a starwars movie for about 4months now...hmmmm?
hey, star wars is f* excellent. Back in those days the fx were awesome....the story however...to this day is one of the greatest....i'm going to watch it for the story.....not the bullshit fx that people have been talking about....if i wanted to see fx i would have seen ID4 Starship troopers and all the other clones around.....this will be the greatest event....the sequel (in reverse order).. of probably the greatest set of movies ever made.... Lucas is a legend...however he should shut up about copyright.....that dude that wrote in about people going to watch it in the theatre is right. People aren't going to watch a f* great movie in mpeg format when the awesomeness is fully experienced in a theatre...Lucas should realise this cos he isn't the stupidest f* in the world. cya
David Strauss is a legend and i think he is doing the best job for the banshee...when he gets 3d running for it i'm gonna email him and send him $10 or something... its not much... but if everyone gave him a reward for what he has done for the banshee (banshee users) he would be doing this shit everywhere....not just him but other people....it's all about support
