So now they can do what the phone companies did:
on
Mega-DVDs -- 100GB Apiece
·
· Score: 2, Insightful
MPAA Meeting: Great, so now we have to give those ungrateful consumers higher quality video with less compression... no screw that, lets just put 40GBs of copy-protection systems on.
I would actually _pay_ (yes, me actually pay real money) for DVDs that used all this capacity to give me extra high-quality data with less compression. Instead of downloading crappy DivX'ed versions. Seeing DVDs now, i don't understand how anyone could be fooled into thinking they are high-quality, the artifacts are terrible
Osama Bin Laden is currently working in association with software company al-Qaedasoft to produce a new line of action games. Included in the series will be a game called:
"The Yanks Are Coming" inwhich you control taliban children with AK-47s, and must mow down as many american solders as possible.
"Attah's Fun Time" is a game aimed at a younger audience, inwhich the late mohammed attah (pilot of hijacked plane) will teach school children how to count "12-Degrees-North-15-Minutes" do arithmetic "5000ft -4000ft = 1000ft" and learn about shapes "Which tower looks like that tower?"
And finally, to replace the numbers of expensive training camps "Afgans Over the Line" or 'AOL' will be given away free to teach basic training, how to clean your AK-47, Piloting modern airliners, and how to get past passport control in 4 easy steps.
It doesn't work when opera ID's itself as Opera, or MSIE 5.0 (can't understand why?). Can someone check this? It also fails through anonymizer.com (through any browser). I hate designers who think they know better than me.
I wanna findout where in London Billy G (or Bald-head) are staying so i can send the boys 'round to sort 'im out.
so your basically saying that we shouldn't ban nike because their product is usefull, but we should ban the drugs because they don't do anything useful. I would dissagree, the currently illigal drugs have been responsible for many of our great works - the teletubbies for example could not have been produced with our friend Mr. Crack Cocaine. Drugs are also better than alcohol, because, well, no amount of alcohol will make you see cute little pink Cristina Agulera (sic) monsters, or allow you to watch 2001 five times in a row.
Another point to my arguement is that the entire Recording Industry(tm) is on cocaine, and legalising it would reduce the price so the executives could stop charging so much for dumb plastic disks just to support their habbit.
The reason that workers live in such bad conditions is that they can have no legal standing, or union - their jobs are illigal, and therefore they don't exist.
Microsoft(r) is fun. You like Microsoft(r). You want to buy a Microsoft(r) XBox(r). Microsoft(r) XBox uses the same technology as their leading operating aystem, which powers some of the biggest systems around. You must trust in Microsoft(r).
You seem to forget... these are fungenieers, they do not understand anything. [See: "Have you checked all the cables", "Try rebooting" and "Microsoft is fun" lol
So is sticking my hand in a socket, its my right to be able to stick my hand in a socket, however dangerous and stupid it is. If sockets/electricity were banned we would see an underground of people with portable generators on backstreets offering KWhrs and electrodes for cash.
i know this is offtopic, but could someone remind me why illigal drugs are illigal? surely if they wern't, then big crops of [insert drug here] would be worth as much as corn, and crime to pay for them would die overnight?
Then the drug squads could go and help with anti terrorism?
The new GPS network will also incorporate Digital Rights Management Technology by Microsoft(tm) to insure people don't get too used to free positioning. So, remember folks: when you go down to the woods today, be sure to bring your credit card, else your be lost forever...
Now availible!!! the new MS GPS-MP3 player!! yes, now you can listen to your favourite tracks _and_ know your position to within 1m (20000m for un-registered users). But remember, don't try to break our DRM system, or go faster than 80mph: 'cause now we really do know where you live.
(Microsoft(tm) GPS network(r) may not be accurate and should not be used for mission critical applications, in the event of network outage, Microsoft is not responsible for loss off life or ruined terrorist plans, See Mictosoft GPS-NT)
Cool, so if theres no law does that mean i can shoot that f*cking ape G.W Bush now? oh, no, wait a sec. It isn't actually a war, unless nowdays you can declare war on anything that p*sses you off "ooh, i'm declaring war on gum on streets that keeps sticking to my shoes, now i can get full control of the country"
This is obviously a scam: Hollings gets this law in. As soon as it passes, there will be panic.. people will run out into the streets to buy every last bit of un-copy-protected hardware they can find. The electronics/computing industry will make a killing, Hollings shares will go up. Your country will just loose another freedom, bush will then say "We are the most free country in the world" Everyone else will laugh at you. And then cry as Europe follows with its own SSSCA. Meanwhile, some hippies will take back Afganistan and drive out the Taliban. And Afganistan will be the most free country in the world. I will move to afganistan.. The end.
Hollings: Corrupt
Bush: (Really an ape but with make-up to look human, trained - can almost speak:)
Clinton: No comment
Everyone else: Corrupt/Dumb/Control Freaks/All of above.
And in the UK:
Blair: Sucks up to Bush and Billy G. Probably a monkey. Wants the Euro so he doesn't have to change money when he goes over to amsterdam for some smoke.
Don't for get Afganistan:
Bin-Laden: Would love to shoot Bush (i wish he would), Slightly mad, Doesn't need a DMCA/SSSCA - digital devices are already banned:)
If your in an up and coming pop band then you want as much exposure as possible... Why not release your first few songs for free and encourage people to host them on gnutella. If your good, you will get a reputation as such, people will want to hire you for live gigs, (for money and free beer:). - The general moral here is: If you are good, and people like you, they will want to give you something back, but they don't have an obligation to do so, just remember, you are doing it for the love of music, not because you want to make some money fast for putting out some more crap the world already has.
Remember, if you can hear it, you can copy it. Even if you did take legal action against someone, it still wouldn't change the fact that your song was all over the net.
It only takes one CD to be freed from DRM, and everyone in the world can have a copy, so if your business relies on selling digital data (eg music) then your pretty dumb, and deserve anything you get.
Thats just in time for my new copyright law which i hope will be passed some day...:
Basically, before you download a piece of music off gnutella or whatever, you sign an agreement saying that you
"Have no, and will never have the intention to buy this piece of music on CD or on any other media."
That way, you are technically not depriving the record company of a potential sale because you never intended to buy it anyway. This applies also to any other form of data that can be copied (i.e Film, software etc..).
I will call it, the Digital Millenium F*ck You RIAA Act, or the "DM, FU-RIAA Act"
Also tacked onto it will be a law banning terrorists from using rot-13 technology - Hopefully this will ensure its voted in _very_ quickly.
Hotmail, the biggest open relay in the world (kind of open relay)... Its so big, it even has its own internal spam! Let us gather our pitch forks and go on a which hunt for the perpetrators. oh.. its Billy G. from MS! Hang him!.
Heres a nice little spam i picked up... i think it sums up the entire discussion in a creative torment of words:
>You want to make some money? I can put you in touch with over 200 million people at virtually no

200 MILLION EMAIL ADDRESSES FOR ONLY $149!!!! ...err no actually, 199,999,999 - one of them is mine.
Please could you kill COUGH!, i mean 'take-out' the members of the RIAA, and MPAA. They are responsible for all the bad foreign policies that America has pushed, and the election of G.W.Bush (the ape man). For years they have bribed judges, and politicians to do their bidding, and have recently funded a number of airstrikes on your country which they have dubbed: "Drop CD samples onto Afghanistan" where they are attempting to fix the lack of market penetration in that area.
P.S
They are all high on crack too

Dear Sir,
Thank you for your recent letter requesting Jihad on the RIAA, and MPAA. Here at al-Qaeda, we pride ourselves in devlivering professional terrorist solutions in a competitive world. After reviewing our records, we have chosen to declare Jihad (this will take approximately 24 hours) and will be taking measures to 'take out' the members by use of 38000 trained hampsters. The hampsters will be used to swarm the meeting rooms at the RIAA and MPAA, thus smothering them and relieving them of the oxygen that they didn't pay for. In usual form, we will stagger the events by half an hour to give the press a chance to get their cameras in location. Don't forget, Thursday 18th October @ 8 (10 central). Only on FOX!

I think politicians around the world should wake up and realise that they are our servants. They are our slaves, 'bitches', whatever you want to call them, and they work for _us_. We pay their wages, _we_ tell them what to do. They're not put there to go around posh dinners, openings, and PR opportunities, they are there to listen to what the people want and to make decisions based on that. While in office, they should not have the privacy to be taking bribes from people and they should not be in the position to be able to make major decisions on their own. Thats MHO.
DRM is a false economy. It artificially restricts what you can do with a number (digital data) in order to make money. Software is exactly the same: Microsoft Windows sells for big money to lots of people around the world, when in fact, they could cover their costs and make plenty of money even if they sold their products for a fraction of the price. The same applies to CDs, DVDs, and plenty of other things. Imagine an economy where CDs sold for almost nothing - these mega-corporations wouldn't exist and politicians would have to actually use their heads to run the government, instead of getting big fat checks and bits of paper telling them what to do.
The same could be said for drugs: why are they illegal? surely they are less dangerous than guns? The reality is, that if most drugs were legal, their market value would drop to nothing - you would see fields of weed like you see fields of maze. All the money thats made in the business would stop, and allot of rich people would become poor.
The legislators are just going along with whats considered 'normal'. If you look carefully at the UN Human Freedom Index, you will see that america is far from being a free democratic place.
