    Actually that depends on the State you live in, whether or not you have a contract delineating your duties, and whether or not the ubiquitous "other duties as assigned" exists in a written job description for your position. This is not black and white either.

    Actually you are completely trolling. The technique uses currents in the order of 1-2 mA.

    It uses very small currents compared to what most people would consider to be electrocution. It may find theraputic uses, but like so many other technologies apparantly we're going to use it for evil as well.

    Because differning philosophies should be taught. It's part of learning critical thinking skills. It's also important to teach in the appropriate venue, of which Science class is not.

    Be more sensitive! Keep in mind that for many on Slashdot the most excercise they ever get is tearing open bags of Doritos while clicking repetetively as they grind their WoW character.

    I agree, it's not too heavy and some people like being able to take their work home without having to have 2 machines.

    I need a unique userid, a password with relatively strict rules as to what it can and must contain, and a 4 digit PIN in order to access my accounts at all. Of course, none of that will help me if I have a keylogger on my machine, but at least some banks are doing their best.

    Actually, the company exits but has since gone through numerous mergers and name changes. It also made him and quite a few shareholders rather rich when Getronics (a Dutch firm) bougth them out. I was working for them at the time. Quite a bit of the old company remains in the US Operation. Still, as an independant entity yes, Wang is defunct.

    That doesn't reason at all unless you find that dark matter can undertake complex interactions with other dark matter. It's more likely that it can't interact with itself much at all except through gravitation.

    I love my new Blu Ray movies, don't get me wrong, but I see no real need to replace old DVD's because upscaling works great. They aren't quite as good as Blu Ray, but my old DVD's look so much better via my PS3 than on my old (non-upscaling) DVD player that I will focus on new titles when I buy Blu Ray discs.

    Upscaling DVD players, Blu Ray or non-Blu Ray, will slow adoption quite a bit.

    Purpose: to perpetuate one's genetic material. The 'strategy' in this case is to infect another virus, or to infect other living cells. I wasn't implying any sentience; I meant strategy in the evolutionary sense.

    I don't think life means what you think it means, but therin lies the rub. We do not even have a clear definition of 'life' that science can agree on. To me, if it's made of genetic material and proteins and has a survival strategy then it is alive.

    I doubt that will happen while Ballmer is in charge. Why he is running the company is beyond me, but then again I'm not a billionaire so maybe I'm just doin' it wrong.

    Monopolies are inherently anti-capitalist because they negate the free market forces that make capitalism work. Try again. And yes, I'm conservative, though with very strong libertarian leanings.

    That being said, yes there are a lot of misguided liberals on Slashdot who think Government is the solution to all of societies ills. That has zero to do with this story of the general reaction to it.

    I got mine primary for movies and games, and it sits in my living room connected to my HDTV.

    Meh, if I want to browse the web in front of my TV I have a laptop for that. The built in browser is more than good enough for the occasional need. That being said of course if I'm booted into Linux I'll be using the browser for various things; viewing and downloading code comes to mind.
