As for climate change, I simply don't care whether or not Chicken Little is right that the sky is falling. Because I'm 100% sure pollution sucks goat balls. There's no need for any hysterical doomsaying to believe that pollution should be very severely curtailed. But hey, I'm sure the various polluting industries are thankful to you for giving environmentalism a bad name.

Nice hysterical propaganda! Did you know capitalism has killed at least 205,000,000?

See the problem is, both these figures have a certain truth to them, even putting aside the inevitable politically inspired exaggerations. Yet both figures also have a major element of hand-wavy bullshittiness.

In both cases the overwhelming majority of the claimed casualties were not killed by gubmint bullets, but by the results of economic policies. Problem is, everyone dies eventually, and most causes of premature death are multifactorial - malnutrition, obesity, disease, etc. So how do you accurately and consistently define "premature death", much less measure it over population over time?

Shrill hysteria like "Ideology X killed N people! Reeeeeee!" does nothing to advance our understanding of politics or economy. Imho it's far more useful to point out that while collectivization of heavy industry has a pretty good record, collectivization of agriculture has a record of disastrous failure.
