    When SJH brigades first began to push the "Code of Conduct" requirement, most people suspected the purpose was to silence dissent and punish heretics. Now Google has very publicly demonstrated those suspicions were correct.

    Funny thing.... There are quite a few self identified neo-reactionaries writing on the internet today. These people are openly and unashamedly sympathetic to the historical Nazis and big-F Fascists.

    Yet if you look at the comments on their blogs, you'll find few or no angry denuciations and accusations of Nazism from the SJH virtue police.

    Rather, such foaming at the mouth denuciations are reserved for moderate Trump supporters and classical pro-freedom liberals. Odd, isn't it?

    You couldn't possibly pay me enough to work in a hostile, toxic, bigoted environment like Google. Management has made it very clear they would discriminate against me on the basis of race, sex, and creed. Not too mention the company's overtly evil contributions to the surveillance state.

    Their recruiters call every few weeks and I just ignore them.

  22. Absolutely. A friend of mine changed jobs from laboratory data manager to stripper/escort, because the pay was about 10x higher. In some ways she was happy with it, in other ways it made her quite depressed. But it was certainly a voluntary choice.

    As real average wages (adjusted for cost of living) continue to drop, and the last of the independent consultants are starved out, maybe we programmers can finally grow up, stop acting like man-children, and show some solidarity.

    Or maybe we'll become like immediate post-USSR Russia. A huge pool of highly skilled programmers, with near zero job prospects. Nany of whom will turn to illicit activity.
