I've read stuff about that sort of thing before. I can't find the exact article but I did find this which is along the same thread. If I recall correctly, the one I had read basically said the main problem with tapping the cables is making sense of the HUGE amount of data you get.
While I don't think anything about Classic was your point, it's worth pointing out (as others have already I'm sure) that Classic will not run on the Intel Macs.
Offtopic , but have you looked at ndiswrapper for wireless drivers? I haven't looked at it in awhile, but when I had an inspiron 5150 I used that and it worked pretty well.
Oh god. Yes. I saw this, and I'm still feeling the pain. You could see the plastic seal-lines on that sceptre thing, and it had like a stupid xmass ornament on it. I should've known it was gonna be bad beforehand.. I mean, it had a Wayans in it.

You can still run stuff in classic mode.

I'm running Safari on 10.4 as well, and I tried this.
If I have "Open 'safe' files after downloading" checked, Safari downloads, extracts, and installs the widget without asking.
If I have "Open 'safe' files after downloading" unchecked, Safari just downloads it.
Nowhere am I asked during this process if I want to install it. I'm curious as to what's different on your machine that it asked you.
