Letterman was extremely influential in entertainment and thus benefited from the aggregate loci of Bill Murray, Tom Hanks, and every other celeb who loved him. A very long run for any locus and its orbiting Resource Sharing Groups also results in inside jokes. Look at the inside jokes of Seinfeld, South Park or Star Trek Fans (Dammit Jim!) and hell, in particular Joyceans who celebrate Bloomsday. Can't get my head around that one. But also I never met a Joycean I wanted to pick up and have a one night stand with, so little incentive. So yeah, he WAS funny -- enough to have a network hit show for 3 decades or so. I respectfully ask that you look at my other posts here and at the first 1000+ commented article on a tactic that could better get our point across and our ideas into the heads of the backlashers. I really want to upgrade the rationality here and think many of us dudes are largely deaf to what is causing the chicks to go all "RHEEEEEEEE!" Pls forgive me not writing it here. It's like trying to pickup a girl at a bar and saying "wow, you're the absolutely the most captivating woman here, but that outfit really doesn't work on your body." Both may be true, effort still FAILS. I *really* wanna change these people's minds to see our logic. While I agree with you the paper is rational and logical, a higher quality approach for us all on the next round is to lead with "men suck and are louts in domain gamma where women excel" and THEN posit "women populations appear to be catching up in domain theta where men currently dominate." However he *lead* with "women are more prone to anxiety" which will be read as "women are disabled." A better marketed lead would have been "men are more prone to impulsiveness, risk-oriented and dangerous behavior as evidenced by their 93% workplace fatality rate vs females." I'm not saying that this would have WORKED. I *am* suggesting that this quite noble, honest & well composed document can be marketed better by starting with describing how all of us chaps are such awful craven louts. It is more defensible to lead with "men suck in domains gamma where women excel, [insert women dominated gammanian fields]" then "women, however, on a population basis appear to still be catching up in domains theta where men are still dominant [insert thetan field population stats] and GOOGL could encourage catchup by telling all us dudes to become panty-waisted sissies who hold hands in the cafeteria and crochet." Okay maybe we could reword the last couple dozen words or so but all my fellow and fellowette (THAT'S NOT FUNNY!) associates here can upgrade our next attempt to bring higher rationality to the leftmob.
