We're seeing more and more cash grab games in the F2P and AAA sectors. Destiny 2 is a good example of a AAA title. Destiny 2 lacked content, took away content from base users, and continued to push even more post-purchase money transactions rather than real content. Too many modern games are using their resources on programming in-game transaction systems that will produce new revenue streams instead of making games that are compelling enough to warrant a high price tag AND convince the player that it's worth the price.
If a company can't convince us a software product is worth its price without saying it's F2P, then borrowing or piracy are the only ways to tackle that question. Piracy convinces players if a game is worthy of their respect or not. Respected games will be bought. No developer, publisher, or game shop deserves your money unless they can prove it's worth it. Remember that, folks.

Rooted Android users have been tweaking their CPU/GPU clocks for better battery to performance ratios for a long time now. That is the argument I just thought of. MTG would be more like gambling than lootboxes because the contents of the pack have a real money market value. Overwatch lootboxes (and most games) only has account items with no trading allowed (ignoring possible account trades / RMT), which is why Overwatch lootboxes are DEFINITELY NOT GAMBLING. Paying for a lootbox in any game is like throwing money into a black hole of capitalism.
But lootboxes are almost like racketeering. Games used to include this kind of content with the game purchase itself. But lootboxes / "gatcha rolls" were created to keep rewards low, desire high, and overpriced fake in-game currency flowing. All they've done is make the GAME ITSELF less enjoyable over all. This is why so many people play "for fun" and say "it's just quickplay" while dicking around. It's because they're not invested in the game. They're invested in the fake loot. They wanna play dress up while they die in worse and worse ways. They aren't really participating, they're role-playing.
The companies selling tickets put no real controls in their system to stop the mass purchase & reselling of tickets. Companies without rules are enablers. After all, they just want to sell their stock and make their profit, so there's little incentive for them to change unless there are huge amounts of empty (but paid for) seats at events. These companies are the source of the problem, and it's up for them to fix it.
The scalpers want to make a new market off of art appreciation, and thus resells items for ridiculous markups. Exploiting other people for more cash than something is worth = Shitty job for shitty humans who live in unsustainable bubbles.
HOW ABOUT THIS FIX: Ticket companies sell 1 ticket per transaction. Purchased tickets are attached to a person's name, email, phone number, etc. People can only pick up these tickets at the event itself after verifying with their personal information / ID card. More options, like ticket transfers or extra rules, could and should be implemented to enable consumer choice & counteract successful scalpers who try to find exploits in this system.
