Virtual hugs without 'consent' ? How insanely weak minded is this generation if they feel violated in case someone sends the a *hug* message without first clearing it with them.
It's like the inmates are running the asylum...
I realize you are joking, but it's interesting that Linus is using Fedora, which was one of the first distros to switch to systemd, meaning he was one of the early systemd adopters.
I don't see how that will be an upside to consumers, AT&T, Comcast, etc will gladly pass your information along to RIAA/MPAA, and of course will also happily block p2p protocols like Bittorrent (which Comcast already did once).
Just look at the immense community disruption that systemd has caused.
I don't like systemd (like some of the ideas but not how they are implemented), but outside of the Debian vote, I don't think there's been any community distruption other than some heated comments on message boards, and even that has died down due to people being dead tired of the same arguments put against eachother over and over again.
All major distros are going with systemd, I believe eventually (perhaps soon if the developers keep screwing up) something better will replace it, meanwhile it is the de facto standard on Linux distros, where is this 'immense disruption' exactly ? When the vast majority choose one direction it's hardly a disruption.
It's pretty widely disliked
Anything with which to substantiate this ? As far as DE's go, Gnome seems to be the most widely liked, default in most distros, most themes.
yet is forced on users as the default desktop environment by a number of the major Linux distros.
Ah, this again. If your distro supply a DE right-out-of-the-box, then someting has to be the default, when it's not YOUR personal choice, it's suddenly 'forced on you'. Come on, either use a distro which doesn't ship with a default DE, or better yet, one which ships with your particular favorite, vote with your feet.
Well, they are largely based upon announced budgets, that said 'Hollywood accounting' is a well known term and thus there is always a strong risk of presented numbers being either inflated or reduced.
As for promotional costs, that is pretty much speculation based upon statements from industry insiders.
These estimates seem to correlate very well with reality though, for example when Sony Pictures posted a year to year loss in april of $719 million it echoed the estimated performance for the films they made in 2016.
Well Sun had no intention of open sourcing Solaris at all, it wasn't until it was clear that they were being killed by Linux that they decided to go open source in a last-ditch effort for survival.
This was likely a particularly hard thing to swallow since the Sun president Jonathan Schwartz had previously been very critical of open source and GPL in particular, claiming that it was 'a tool allowing United States businesses to pillage developing countries of their intellectual property.', but again they really had no other options at that stage.
Alas it was indeed to late.
Not necessarily, those numbers are box office GROSS, the studio/distributor gets on average ~55% of the total box office gross.
Also production budget does not include promotional costs, which are often huge.

A lof of Fuchsia is actually written in Go, the networking stack, the package manager, file system tools etc https://github.com/fuchsia-mir...
So how big are these UHD's anyway ? I believe a Bluray movie is typically 25-30gb, are the UHD's ~55-60gb ?

Based upon what I've read on sites like http://www.the-numbers.com/ and http://www.boxofficemojo.com/ everything he/she wrote was correct
